BULL 100
my bitch monkey is 2,years 9 months old and has been eased in slowly fed well and had a load of time spent on her ,she is without doubt the most infuriating dog in the world she will come on leaps and bounds retrive to hand catch well and on a few occasions prove shes got a bit off bottle then another time (like tonight) take her out she will look at rabbits with ear cocked then watch them run off ,she will get 20 yards from a squatter mid field ill let her off and she will commando crawl towards it like a cat and take an age to reach it then half heartedly chase them . other days she will fly at them ,I absouloutly hate it when she does this i have a pup half her age which is 3 times as good . AS ANYONE HAD SUCH A WEIRD LITTLE DOG AS THIS ,..............I THINK SHE MAY BE RETARDED ...YOUR VIEWS PLEASE. Quote Link to post

As I have said this is just a stab in the dark and more information will give you more advice, Quote Link to post
bird 10,015
i know it comes down to each dog as all dogs are differnt, but some xs do things more like as above.? Whats in the dogs mix.? Mosst times it when the get more (misses) than (catchs).? I know you said its not all the while, but the more they can catch the better+ will stop this. Cut down the runs, if it catchs 2 great, then take it home. put them in the kennel on a high, forget the bag. how big is the dog (height+weight) is it small+agile, or big+heavy. I had 2 dogs the same size height+weight 70lb, colliex , bullx but the colliex had more natural agilty, so it picked rabbits that more easy. Both were good dogs, but they are all differnt, thats why what in the x can make the differnce with temp+abilty. Maybe give it break for a month, then it might come out and be like a rocket on each run, but still keep the runs down.? Quote Link to post
BULL 100
the bitch is a 4th generation bullx i can trace her breeding back to the original bull she is the product of a father daughter x i bred her befrore people who humanise this dog and say its wrong because i needed to double up the blood as i new the father was being pts shortly and his direct blood would be gone. so she is a 4th generation bullx 20.5 tts and 37lb in weight she is extremly small i kept the runt of the litter the sister has been single handed since 12month the other sister has been only used on rabbits and long ears and is extremly fit catching the odd daytime longears but has not entered to toothed quarry yet my bitch is still like a puppy she had no bad experiences and has not been over run shes done this since the first time i took her out shes the most infurating, unconsistant dog ive ever heard of or seen ,....i know breeding this close can bring all the best qualities out in the offspring but it can also bring all the worst out too it reduces size dramatically and inttelegence . so its probably just my luck ive bred a dwarf type off bullx cross thats severlly retarded lol. I was tempted to say just give up on her mate after what you just said BUT as you said in your first post sometimes she can perform well enough on some outings, there must be an underlying reason she doesn,t at other times, Quote Link to post
troter58 1,711
to be honest with such close breeding i think you could be on the right track she could be a bit slow on the up take like you say the litter sisters are doing the job i would give it abit of time but thats down to you ? some you win some you lose mate alb troter Quote Link to post

BULL 100
the last bitch i had which was unrelated was of dubious breeding i kept her till she was 4 until i gave up on her and not until i found the right person for her who still has her now but it wasnt her fault in fairness she had broke her leg in 3 places and was never right after that cost me 750 to get leg fixed . most off my mates said monkey she should of been culled at birth .....hope she proves emn wrong but i have my doubts... Dan Edwards 1,134
Maybe she dont like rabbits or maybe she's a cull. Quote Link to post
Guest crobinc840
Maybe she feels this tension you have towards her, have you had someone else try her out? Quote Link to post
Malt 379
Do you take he out one to one, or are there other dogs present? Maybe with her being the smallest from the litter she might be inclined to think that she's not entitled to chase anything in the presence of other dogs... Maybe try taking her out one to one for a few months of that's the case? Quote Link to post
