Phantom 631
Hi Owen, I've not owned a gun that does not like AAF's and all the ones I have perform well with FX pellets as well. Much depends on the rifle though. Each Barrel has its own unique (how would I say this???? Ah) "Finger Print" for want of a better description. A slight variation in the barrel can have different effects to the barrel that was created before and after it. Phantom Quote Link to post
zini 1,939
Hi Owen, My BSA barrel likes either rws super fields, fx pellets or aa pellets. Si Quote Link to post
pianoman 3,589
Hi Owen. No two barrels of the same make and model of gun are so precisely the same, that one make of a particular, suitable pellet type works with utter, absolute perfect accuracy. So pellet makers have been making alternate headsizes that usually overcome these microscopic discrepencies between barrels. Thus, as an example you will find Air Arms/JSB make a superbly accurate .177 and .22 Diabolo roundhead pellet in 4.51 and 4.52mm headsize for .177 barrels and a 5.51mm and 5.52mm headsize in .22. If you shoot a rifle with a barrel that performs consistently well with Air Arms Diabolo Field or JSB EXACT pellets, there will be a headsize here that may make a difference between fairly accurate, to extremely accurate. With my .22 Weihrauch rifles. H&N Field & Target Trophy is an extremely accurate pellet and very stable for high performance FAC spring rifles. It's made in one headsize but it is a very consistently well-made pellet. Very few in any batch have a loose-fit inconsistency. If your barrel likes these at all, it will love them! ryballnben 22
My bsa super star likes accupells, domed and pointed good at distance for game but as with all you will have to experiment with differing weight and profile projectiles till you get your groups where you want em, Quote Link to post
