Sloe Gin What To Do Next.......

Hi all i have just made my first batch of sloe gin and vodka from your recipes on this site.

All i need to know now is what i need to do at christmas when its ready i know i will drink it

but do i run it through a sive to take the sloes out?

How long have the sloes been in it for?

 

You need to leave them in there for three moths at least. Shake them gently every day for a week, then turn them weekly. After the three months, strain them through some muslin cloth and bottle up ready for drinking. The longer you leave it bottled up the better.. :thumbs:

The stuff I make this year is saved to drink next year. I strain through a sieve to take out the berries then through a white cotton hankie that was bought purely to use for this purpose and it works a treat..

 

I wish I had the willpower to leave sloe gin alone for 12 months.. :(:laugh::thumbs:

I use the above methods too, it can be worth straining it a couple of times to remove any extra sediment. I have some sloe gin of an 03 vintage in the cupboard :D mmmmmmm Stick it in cupboard you rarely use and it's a nice surprise when you find it :boogie:
