blackstaff 488 Posted October 23, 2010 Report Share Posted October 23, 2010 Hi all, i was wondering if others walked their dogs anywhere else other than the permission they have ? If you do what sort of walk is it ? I.e is your walking all about working or do they have free fun running to ? I walk my 3 at the local park where the ' everyday people' walk their pooches, and i also have the seafront and the Susex downs 5 mins from my house so plenty of variety and consider my self lucky to be able to do this. I was wondering as my nearest permission is about 15 - 20 mins away, and what with the nights drawing in i'm not sure how people would go about getting their dogs fit without lamping the life out of their permission, or strolling onto others I only ask as i now find myself with 3 dogs to run with the nights drawing in and don't want to constantly lamp them. Also i'm not sure how it would go down at the park as there are a few foxes that frequent the park I'm not a lover of the treadmill either, i know they have there uses but just not what i like. You should be 'running' your dog on your permission! As for mine, anywhere I can or want! When I lived in the city, roadwork or the park daily, I really don't see any difference between a lurcher (of any cross/type), just because it 'works' for a living, don't mean it should be any more badley behaved or anti-social as any other dog breed, in fact it should be more so!! Now I live in the countryside and the sky's the limit... Bliss! Though i'm as respectful as possible... I live there!! My dogs, over the years have been just about everywhere, from the Three Peaks to Picadilly Circus & Hyde Park (They have visited many other 'parks' too... but I won't go into that on here! ) Quote Link to post
arcticgun 4,548 Posted October 23, 2010 Report Share Posted October 23, 2010 Im lucky whilst I dont live in paradise, i got fields just over the road and luckily for me it is my permission as well,got most the local land ,shame its practically deviod of game after the summer hunters,lampers and mixi have had there fun but its nice to be able to just let the dogs straight off and let em get a good strech. I aso road work them regular behind bike, I have the odd walk in the local park, they love it, they all real friendly but once they are there the local dog community know they are mind they never show me up they save that for days we out for real Quote Link to post

collie/grey 238 Posted October 23, 2010 Report Share Posted October 23, 2010 Mine get walked everyday just as any dog should do regardless of whether it's a worker or not, im lucky in that i walk out of my front door and i have fields behind, infront or either side of me, i rarely have to use a lead, but i also drive to the local woods for a change of scenery or the park, the dogs love socialising with others and it's good for their mental health too, once the nights draw in they will get more road work and the running they do will be lamping!! turbo28 1 Posted October 23, 2010 Report Share Posted October 23, 2010 i dont know how fit you are mate,but when im not hunting i jog and sprint with my dogs,off road, they love it,they get just as exited,they love it and it means you can keep them in condition all year round,i was out on a friends permission with him and his two lurchers,i brought along my 18 month old jack russel minature,six n a half hours in and the lurchers were feeling it while my little dog was still raring to go,and it'll benefit you,and its more fun running with your dogs,cos there always up for it and never LET YOU DOWN! Followed by a 20 mile bike ride, 14 km swim......10 hours unpaid charity work, and back in time for 12 to feed dinner to the old biddies at the day centre...lol Quote Link to post
