kingoftoosh 15
As title suggests,I'm going out to test my new gun lamp on a new bit of land that is hoachin with rabbits. never lamped before so really lookin forward to tryin it and also gettin me some tasty rabbits for me and the dog.Not had a shot at the cotton tails for a good while now, most of my shooting has been of the feathered variety recently. Wish me luck, will let you's know how i get on when i get back. Atb kot Quote Link to post

Sweeney-Todd 208
Hiya Kot. Good hunting mate......look out for the boogey men Look forward to your post. Bill. Quote Link to post
Phantom 631
Enjoy Martin, But dont be suprised if you don't hit anything Ranging with a lamp when you've never done it before is very hard work, especially more so if its new land And you'll probably loose follow through while your watching your little streak of light from the muzzle on its way, until you get used to seeing them Looks amazing when you first see it through the scope Phantom Quote Link to post
stealthy1 3,964
Good luck KOT Quote Link to post

johnboy19 38
Im just back from my 2nd attempt at lamping, came away with one. As said, steep learning curve, but a lot of fun. Are you going yourself or with someone? I must admit im glad i go with someone when lamping, think if i went myself i would last 15 mins then get scared at some of the noises ive heard and run back to the car lol Good luck mate john Quote Link to post

Glad I didnt though as when i looked up and flicked the light on while looking through my scope i nearly s hat meself as i thought there was a ten foot bunny on the loose. Two rabbits hopped right by me but one of them filled my scope on 12 x mag, whoa big bonce bunny.Composed myself and picked one of them to go for.Put my lamp on it and it froze, pulled 1st stage on trigger then let go through 2nd and i had my 1st gymnast bunny, done a somersault and landed stone dead ,no twitching at all .I was over the moon. it was only bout 15 yds away. Then i started looking for the 2nd one that had done a runner, shone the light and saw it crouched down about 25 yds away ,tricky shot though as i had to put the pellet through a avenue of trees.Let the aa field go find its mark(or anti aircraft missile ,as it looked to me through the scope)and rabbit number 2 hit the deck with a few twitches.Ran over to check it was dead, yup sure was.Delighted ,one of my best shots so far. Hung about for a wee while longer ,then decided to call it a night.it was getting a bit too King Billy to be hanging around. All in all a great session.Could have got plenty more if i knew what i was doing better but i was happy with 2 and so was wee Archie my dog when he seen me bring them in. when skinned and gutted ,they were in tip top condition. The torch you recommended Tony was spot on,Funny thing is they are advertised in one of the airgun mags this month ,under a different name for over £. I got mine for 22 quid .result. Atb Marti Pics are not the best quality, never had to use phone cam in the dark before. good luck have you got a filter? i could'nt get near em with a white light sorted now with a red filter. Hi Fry,no buddy i didnt have a filter ,just my 300 lumens tactical torch mounted on my lamp.Didn't have any bother getting near, just shooting the bloody things haha.Surprised really as this bit of land is surrounded by houses and i'm sure the rabbits would have seen lamps before by the local poachers. The only niggle i found was having to use the gun as a torch sometimes,ie holding it differently then putting eye to scope, bringing light back on. Atb marti Will need to get out on this land during the day to get the lay of the land, but for a 1st time out on it and 1st time lamping, well chuffed. 2 Quote Link to post

fry 209
good shootin kot i went out 4 times and blanked when i first had a bash with the lamp.maybe the bunnies my way have had a bit more lamp attention than the ones up there its great seeing the pellet fire down the lamp beam followed by a THWACK!! atb Quote Link to post
fry 209
what flavour wee dog do you have? when it was light later i took my little jack russel out with me in the hope of getting him to retrieve which he does whilst they are twitching but as soon as the rabbit is totally dead he just drops them. and every time i shoot the gun he goes crazy thinking i have shot one! which can get a bit wearing when you are zeroing the sights atb Quote Link to post

Couldn't take him with me ,cos he wouldnt wait till the rabbit was shot,he'd just go like a bat out of hell after it... Quote Link to post
