Most dogs will warn before attacking, a pit bull will go from completely calm seeming to full on, out to kill attack mode with no warning in between.

 

Staffies, which most people think are the same, are a completely different kettle of fish. A temper a mile long, and they will run away and hide rather than hurt someone. Even when cornered they will try not to hurt humans. Dogs on the other hand, are fair game.

 

I have a staff x lab, and he's completely mental, but wouldn't hurt a human for the world. He plays rough though, as all terriers do, and some dogs don't appreciate that, and it can turn into a bit of a snarling match!

 

Pit Bulls are banned because they are f#####g dangerous, especially with the types that tend to own them.

 

now i aint never said a bad word about anyone over the net but you my friend a complete f****n dickhead you are more likely to be bit by alsation labrador collie jack rusell well almost any dog and when you do hear of pitbulls attacking its usually nothing of the sort but a completely different dog just to get headlines they have been bred for multiple generations to be handled in the box where no other dog would come under such pressure than where another dog wants to kill it for fun not run and survive but end him and theres people right next to them now how many dogs can that be said of that wouldnt turn and bite in these conditions. the problem is they are fashionable nowdays with the so called gangster street thug and are being trained to be aggressive towards humans which for years have been the opposite. i can bet you now you search and see what % of human attacks come from real pbt you will be shocked as it may only be 10% of the cases recorded that are real pbt. next you will be saying hunting dogs should be banned nobhead

the reason this breed is singled out more than any other breed, because of there tenicty+power. There is no breed pound for pound like them. you can have breeds bigger+stronger, but no breed as there tenicty (guts)and it this qualty in them, when not used proper makes them a dangerous animal, in the wrong hands. A great breed made by man, that will be killed my man. The prob was it got to popular, and went to joe public , and that was end of them. Ive had bullxs, got one now, staffs,bullmastiffs, pit, and all good dogs, any dog can bite. i had bullmastiffs kick off dogs at 140lb, and its a feckin nightmare. But you can stop them,but a 50lb dog with 100times more tenicty, is a differnt ball game. I love all bull breeds, but lets be honest about them, and respect for what they are, not what we think think they are.

Whats all this weight buisness, this is what i cant understand.... Adog doesnt need loads of poundage behind it to be tough dog or a killer... rotweilers are fecking hefty things, so are perinease mountain dogs but a russell would pumell one...

 

An original pit has to be one of the nicest looking dogs created...Such a shamme that twats got a hold of them...

not every pitbull would have "guts" unless you mean just being aggressive. A game pitbull wouldnt stop but there are alot of curs and most people dont find out yet breed. Thats not just the sterotype gangster owners ethier n lets face it these mugs got their dogs from somewhere. People who have no respect for the dogs and put money first should be named and shamed in the hope they are culled from the dogs

Sorry Matt_Hooks but you are talking absolute bollocks. Pit Bulls are like any other dog breed, there are good and bad examples. I was in America recently and met several pitbulls. They were all perfectly well mannered, due to their owners socialising them from a young age and enforcing boundaries, like you would any other dog. They are undoubtedly powerful animals, so if they do fight they inflict bad injuries, but so are Bullmastiffs, Rottweilers and other large well muscled dogs. Do a search in the general talk section for the top 5 most dangerous dogs. I think the thread will surprise you, but be very informative.

i had one a long time ago great dog totally trust worthy with humans and smaller dogs and bitchs but male dogs dogs that were nearly his size or bigger had to be totally submissive or it would end in fighting (and he could have a fight to) i got him before all this devil dog nonsense appeared in the papers. my little jack i have now is a lot more aggresive and kills rabbits and rats well any thing small really with no encouragement at all, where the rotti would not even chase a creature it was like unless it represented a threat it was not worthy of his attention. that said i knew other people that had them and they were not so kind but i put that down to lack of training when young. mine was a well calm well trained well loved dog.

a well rounded dog which most will be with correct upbringing is a joy to own and in my opinion you wont get a better dog. as above they dont go round attacking dogs willy nilly they dont need to its mostly dogs with fear that do it as most of these dogs are so full of confidence obviously that have a sense of infallibility i aint talking about having a scratch dog as you cant do anything else with it if thats the route you go down and would be stupid to anyway obviosly it it more than likely be perfect witrh humans but a responsible owner would do things differently than a general companion hunting family dog i rabbited on there but you should get what im trying to say im knackered been work all night so bare that in mind if you dont understand my jibberish lol
