Howdo folks!

 

After wor kid "redesigned" the S200 with the HW stock and sprayed it it's looking the dogs danglies!

But it was only zeroed at 10M due to the length of his garden/yard so we decided a trip out to get it zeroed at the optimal distance that was recommended by chairgun pro after following Zinis excellent video.

 

Setting the target at 25M, scope on 7x mag we set about zeroing.....

After 3-4 shots he was soon pellet on pellet within the 1" circle.

As we were on the permission early(6pm-that's early for us!!) we opted for a quick look round even though the weather was very unfavourable being an estimated 20-25 mph winds and horizontal rain

I hopped over the fence to our adjacent permission and started mooching.

After 30mins and only seeing 1 rabbit which is unusual for our permissions I thought maybe the rabbits had the best idea of staying in!!

This led to the next 15mins of static hunting perched on a rock under a small willow tree. After a couple of minutes the 2nd rabbit of the day hopped out of the gorse totally unaware I was there. I took aim with a mildot holdover and fired, bugs slumped to one side, that was that!!

 

Wor kid arrived at the gate to pick me up and we lased to where it fell to find a respectable 37m

Good to see as well that the new optimun range of 25 metres with the .22 is doing its job well mate.

 

You will soon get used to the 25 metre zero range buddy instead of our older 30 metre zero.

 

The benefits are massive in terms of hunting, especially at night

 

Now you have the ultimate combo, the natural raw shooting skills and the perfect calibration data them bunnies better stay in bed when your out

Nice one Darryl.

You guys are very lucky that your 'pests' come in at close ranges, my main permission has very twitchy bunnies and lots of runs for them to pop in to and out to another dimension! they are like 'Sliders' lads Ill tell you.

 

They have bionic vision and hearing,plus the ground is very sandy, Im sure they can hear the lightest footsteps - Si -shape shine shadow sillhouete - seizmic its only the real small kits that get close kills, the rest of the time its proper long range stuff.

So Im always zerod at 49yards as that way I can get the most use out of the mildots out to yards, now I know that some will say thats too far out for an air rifle, but it aint, theres still plenty of retained energy and with the s410 on the bipod or shooting sticks, accurate shot placement isnt too hard so long as you bide your time with the the calculations for wind etc and dont rush the shot; most of the rabbits are taken between 50 - 65yds as an average.

Current best witnessed shot was in the summer at 75yds, prone on the bipod slap bang in the head and dead.

 

For lamping I do drop the zero back down to 25m as they arent too lamp shy on my main permission.

Mark, I totally agree with what you say regarding Range As long as the marksman is up to standard, there is nothing wrong with that kind of range.

I stuck to 30 to 35 yards until Si came along and proved that longer shots were possible with an airgun

I then began pushing my skills on paper first and now I can drop bunnies easily out to 65 yards (66 yards is my own personal best in the cemetery).

Sooner or later, I'll be back in the paddock for longer range paper punching, then when I'm confidant I'll be taking longer kill shots.
