most likely someones collie or lab x gone hunting, couldve been a cat though.

i seen a big black cat close up one night in rutland england and i was feckin prickin myself. had a hard job holding my nerve, was about 10ft away, stopped to look at me then jumped the 7/8ft fence into the grounds of the hotel i had come from.

There's been plenty of sightings over here,

all along the border, counties , meath , cavan & louth

 

There was one a couple of years back around Edgeworthstown - a few lads i knew at the time were even heading up

to try for it on the lamp

I was talking to a man from Collon outside drogheda, his son swore blind he saw a black panther on the

far side of the river from were he was fishing

Sounds very interesting, but I think you may need to reduce your weed in-take before lamping.
