SeanEdgo 29
hi all, This maybe the wrong place for this but its running dog people in particular that it is aimed at. How do you all you people that work full time cope with fitting in your dogs? including pups and keeping them happy?? Should dogs be kennelled during the day for that amount of time alone?? Can a pup make a family pet and worker being brought up in this environment?? all pretty basic stuff i know but just want your views. cheers sean Quote Link to post
Paid 935
I belive a dog can be a pet and worker, I dont kennel mine, they have free run of the house and garden, no problems either end, weather working or socialising with family and friends. I do feel though that 2 or more dogs together iare better than a dog alone if you need to go out for longish periods. Quote Link to post

dobby 1
seanedgo you got any dogs or had any  Got a few mate and my dads a NGRC trainer so have more experience than most. Was just after opinions really mate not misleading comments from smartarses cheers ive been to peoples houses/farms who work and have a single dog to kennels hound packs grayhound racers if they are treated correctly then theres not a problem or distress to the dogs every day dogs need feeding watering and exersize so they have human contact a kennel should be made to the size that fits the dog what your dads opinion if hes an NGRC trainer he must see many dogs in kennels Quote Link to post

Simoman 110
I'm lucky that my three dogs come to work with me everyday. I don't subscribe to the theory that working dogs must be kenneled. Two of mine live in kennels outside and come in for short periods, the other dog sleeps in an indoor crate. I don't think it matters whether they are indoors or out as long as they have good food, exercise, health care and a warm draught free bed. Quote Link to post
dobby 1
i was after the opinions of people who keep working dogs and how they work around them as my dogs are accustomed to alot of attention and i think it would affect them now if i took them away from this environment (i aint gona be living at home forever). and is it fair to do so?? basically do any of you have 9-5 jobs where the dogs are kennelled during the day and still have well socialised pets/workers???? sorry if i am talkin sh*t, finding it hard to put the point accross lol no your not now i understand where your coming from i used to keep my dogs 1lurcher 1terrier out side but they got that used to coming in there in now i do put them out through the day sometimes but the little one yelps but its not a problem its hard to put a dog in to that enviroment once theyve been in an home but do it right and the dog will take too it and it dosnt take them long to get used to it two problems sulkin looking sad wont take them long to get round that 2to4 week 2nd bad thing if they bark only thing i could do with this was squirt water at the culprit they soon learn some say electic dog collars but ive not used them but these are only thing you can try but there isnt a problem working and having dogs in a kennel as long as you look after them every day all the best and hope this helps a little Quote Link to post
