Glad mines sorted for another 5 years. That doesn't sound very encouraging, and is an enormous hike if it is true! Quote Link to post
matt_hooks 188
Did he say where he got this info from? I seem to remember the fees are laid down by central government, but I can't find any reference to them, clues anyone? Quote Link to post
JonathanKent 16
The fees must be set by the government as we all pay exactely the same rate wherever you are in the country, even though the level of service experienced can differ dramatically! Quote Link to post
donnyc 1,203
He said it was due to cutbacks etc..They had made enquiries about taking it away from the local police forces but it was too complex. The only answer was to up the fees ..The £110 is a figure that would stop them losing money processing applications..My local area has to cut back 28 million Quote Link to post
ukhunter 113
I heard a rumor that FAC applications are set to rise New applications are to rise to £200.00 and renewals are to rise to £140.00. but if they do charge that sort of money i would and will expect a top level service Quote Link to post
artic 595
How about 350euros for 4 months. How about 60 million! Quote Link to post
matt_hooks 188
I always wondered how they could do it at the price they did, and I guess it's not fair to expect the non-shooting public to pay for all the licencing stuff, but still, it's a hell of a hike! As someone said, the service had better be top notch! Quote Link to post
Terryorr 27
In Northern Ireland an F A C is £50.00 for 5 years, no matter how many guns you have on it. That covers everything from the smallest air rifle, shotgun, and up to the largest caliber rifle. Quote Link to post
JonathanKent 16
You seem to have a much more sensible system in Northern Ireland with all guns covered on one licence rather than having one for shotguns and one for rifles. I have always thought they have made the process so complicated on possible in order to try and deteer as many people from applying as possible. ATB Jonno Quote Link to post
Terryorr 27
Hello JonathanKent, it has always been like that in Northern Ireland, one gun or ten it is still £50/ licence, not like down south where they are charged euros/gun ( I think). We used to need 3 farmers permission to be granted a Firearms Certificate but now we only need 1 but we also now need 2 character references. The paperwork is a bit of a headache and as you said some people just give it up rather than go through the hassle. Quote Link to post
