bristol tim 135
dont get me wrong ive had smart terriers and been to hunt shows and won my fair share, but ive got dogs to work and the shows are just some fun! so why is it that certain people and not dogs win it before they enter the ring? lady-hunter07 15
There is people out there that just have there dogs for showing and racing and others have just for hunting well each to there own. I do go to shows iv been to shows with and without dogs, to me it is a bit off fun, get you out for the day, also i like to see what breeds off lurchers are about. I do hunt my lurchers to, but i hunt more with my harris hawk. Altho i do have to say i have been to a few shows this year over in northern ireland and its all the same people winning same dogs, judges words are for example " oi richard bring your dog in" next class "richard in to the middle" etc.. and a wee girl had took one off "richards" terriers in he was judging it in the middle and asked the girl was it "richards dog" her reply "yes" then after looking at all the dogs he called the little girl into the middle! I went to one show over here and i think there was 7terrier classes might have been more, 3dogs where in the final out off the 7classes cause "richard" had been picked for most off them classes. To me that diddnt seem very fair. To me tho theres rather alot off kids into it now, but rather alot off jealousy and bitter thoughts at the shows now a days from the "showing folk"! Tanglefoot 0
I would like to add my thoughts on this subject!!! I have bred, shown and judged lurchers for more years than I care to say, also we used to course greyhounds and have been lucky enough to run dogs in the waterloo cup! We have also run shows for a club we ran in the "good old days"!! All showing is currupt, the only way to get good judging is for the organisers of the show not to show their own dogs, no two ways about it!!!! I don't get asked to judge much these days as my friend and I do not judge up the lead! Just to let you know that we used to use our dogs, but now are not in a position to do so, this does not mean our dogs would not "work" my friends dog, which I bred, nailed a fox in her back garden at the age of 7 months!! Regarding the showing, this is now by and large a closed shop and the point of other people showing dogs for you I know someone who changes their clothes in between classes!!! This is because the two people involved have so many dogs that it is the only way to trick the judges, having said that the judges seem to be so in awe of them that they could not put them down anyway!!! We like so many people enjoy a good day out and have no problem being beaten by a better dog, or a least not being able to to predict the outcome of a class (usually by picking the worst one in there) it is also nice to follow the thought train of the judge!!! I have showen, and won, in classes with over 70 dogs in one class, I just wonder how some of todays judges would sort that out??? Oh!! I forgot get the pals in!!!
