Hey mate - i'd love to know more about your Ovcharka - how long you have had it, where you got it from, how it handles etc etc etc - i really fell for them after spending time in that part of the world. Yours looks like the mountain type, the ones from the plains have shorter coats. PM me if you like.

hes a year old, got him from a breeder newcastle way. he is a one man dog although will protect household/family, but,,,, they are ferocious in the most serious sense. didnt realise what i was letting myself in for!! but i couldnt do without him its like having an ex sas as your personal body gaurd, i sleep very well a night knowing hes roaming. :D

Awen-thats the take on them, ever notice that they never run but just trot lol. We have meter readers here that read electric and water meters. One dog I had put the poor guy in the hospital after the MR jumped a 3 foot gate that was locked to read the meter, very serious one man dogs. Good luck with them. Stunt.

Yer mate, i had a few 'experiences' with them when traveling etc. They are great dogs, but not to be taken lightly. I really hope that they don't become better known and more accessible, because they are a serious dog and can be a serious danger if not trained well and handled firmly, but even with corect training and handling you have to be very careful. Can you imagine if half the idiots on here, who are now, i'm sure, very interested in a dog that sounds so 'hard' got their hands on one? Would only be a matter of time before someone got killed and they were banned. Good on you for getting to grips with it tho, lovely beast, and like you said, you can sleep VERY safe.
