Phantom 631
Well after my recce around my latest land aquasition, I told the woman that I hadn't brought my gun because I hadn't been out with it since I put it back together when I came home from Swindon and I would need to check it over before I brought it to her property. In other words, I didn't want to look a prat missing any because I hadn't filled or checked zero since rebuilding her. So this evening I decided to have a wander down to the Paddock and Cemetery. Stuck the paper out at 35 yards and sent one down the pipe. Looked through the scope and hey presto, it landed about half inch high and about 3 inches to the left a flyer perhaps? So another in the breach and a fraction of a second later the pellet scuttles the first one from behind! Bugger!! Gave the windage a complete turn to the right and sent another downrange, landed in exactly the same elevation, but about 3 inches to the right of where I was aiming. Made the adjustment on the turret by giving it half a turn left and repeated the process. Pellet landed just above the bull turned one click down on the elevation and the next pellet removed the bull Repeated this for the next 4 shots and removed the centres from the other 4 targets. Sorted and good to go. Climbed over into the Cemetery and saw Mrs A heading round the front with Patch. Went for a natter and she told me there was still bunnies and some younger ones in her Goose paddock, so I said I would pay her a visit in the next day or so and see whats what. Anyways after she had gone it began to rain and I had no wet gear with me, so I hung around under the big old conker tree until it stopped. I then made my way back to the tall headstone that I use as a hide and thought, after the comp and getting the new land, I could really do to nail Linford and skin him for my collection of pelts. Then bugger me, who should appear directly in front of me from Bunnyland at 30 yards! The not so little anymore Black bunny known as Linford!!! and he was moving like he wanted the 400 meters gold! He ran to my right, then to my left, then away from me around the cenral warren bush then he eventually came to a stop again at about 30 yards and about five yards from the fence that seperated the cemetery from Bunnyland. So after tearing up the cemetery tracks he was back to the point where I 1st clapped eyes on him. This was going to make my day such an easy shot and he was facing directly at me so this was going to be a nice simple between the eyes shot. Putting the crosshair 1 dot down I took up the 1st stage and just as I had steadied my breathing and sent the signal to release the second stage and the bunny jumps up and forward. Too late, the pellet was on its way and everything seemed to go in slow motion. I knew what was comming a dull thud as the pellet crashed through Linfords chest he went over backwards, landed on his ass then rolled over motionless I figured it was a clean heart shot and that I had just had a stroke of luck. But no! As I took my eye away from the scope Linford rolled over he then got to his feet and legged it towards Bunnyland as he approached the fence he cleared it with a good few inches to spare! I couldn't believe it :wallbash: I had fluffed the shot as he moved and now he was making off I went over to the spot where he had cleared the fence and I could just make out a dark bunny shape laying on its side about 6 yards from the fence completely motionless. I couldn't get through the fence and at that time of the evening, Mrs G had already locked her front gates and put the security lights on, so I figured I'd be able to pick him up in the morning assuming that young Charlie doesn't decide to pick him up and snaffle him. But linford is deffinately DEAD Sadly not the way I had planned. But at least he didn't make it too far. I reckon the shot probably took out at least one lung and probably tore his heart. Dissapointed I decided to have a wander over to the new section, there were a lot of new flowers on the graves and a lot of stalks Looks like they are making a meal of this side now! Must get those sorted before it looks like the old section. I got laid down along the hedge with my baby pointing into the new section when I saw from out the far corner next to the lotties a not quite half grown bunny appear sniffing the air. I knew that from where I was to the other side was exactly 30 yards, I guessed where the bunny was was about 35 so I placed my cross hair exactly where I wanted the pellet to land and slipped the sears and down went young bugs. Sorry its a crappy image, it was getting very dark this ones better and you can see the entrance spot where the 16 grain FX micromissile landed Right I suppose I better go and skin him now as he's going to make a meal for some new arrivals Phantom 5 Quote Link to post
stealthy1 3,964
Such dedication mate, if your giving the ferrets the bunny, then leave the fur on, it helps them pass bits that they cant digest from other parts of the carcase Have a slut mate Quote Link to post

Ron Weasley 83
Good shooting Phantom. As stealthy said, don't bother skinning the bunnies for the ferrets, they'll eat the lot. Personally I gut them, but I know others don't even do that. How many ferrets are you getting? Quote Link to post
