scope creep

Recommended Posts

Hey Nod,

You can get mounts with a grub screw in them.

Most rifles nowadays have a tiny hole drilled between the scope rails.

The rear mount sits over this and the grub screw screws down into it.

Or you could place your rear mount at the very end of the scope rails where the cut starts, its usually a little wider there, so the scope mount could not go beyond this.

In the first instance, I'd suggest you tighten your mounts then!

Yah beat me to it Ron.

If that does not help, then I would perhapos run a couple of turns of PTFE or even just a turn of electrical tape round the scope (cut thin enough to be hidden by the mounts).

Hope these tips help

I've a Lightning with a ram and scope creep is one of the few problems it doesn't have...

That said, it's a light weight scope I'm useing, a Simons 1.5-5x32 with a set of Sportmatch two piece mounts. They do go off with a bit of a jump for an airgun so make sure (as has been said) all that should be tight is...

PTFE tape's not best 'cos it's ment to slide. PTFE (polytetrafloreoethelynye... Spelling??) was developed as a dry lube by NASA and found it's way into other applicactions. I see what Tony means but it's not best for that.

A little duct tape between the mount and the scope will help it grip better. Or a rubber strip, inner tube or someting similar. Must be thin though or it'll stress the side of the scope's tube when you clamp it up.

Cheers.
