Hatrick completed!!

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Managed to get out to my permission for a couple of hours again tonight, and when your balancing a job,7 month old twins girls and a high maintanence wife that is some achievement believe me!!

Anyway got there about 19:15 and made my way to the top paddock as this was the only spot i hadnt had chance to give the once over on my previous vistits, spooked 5 or 6 bunnies and earmarked some spots to hole myself up next time. I then made my way to the gorse bushes where i'd had some success last time, i was in luck as there were 3 sat out in the sun. I slowly made my way to the exact same spot and spooked another one in the bush, cursing myself for my carelessnes i peeked through the bush and expected all the others to have shot off. However all remained exactly where they were so i choose a decent sized one about 25yrds away, steddied the cross hairs below the ears and squeezed 'THWACK' the sound of the bisley magnum smashing home and bugs slumped forward and gave a few nervy kicks, No1 in the bag.

I waited around to see if anymore were coming out to play but nothing, i moved over to the fence line and saw 3 more in the next field, they were too busy chasing eachother to notice me shoudler the rifle and take aim, this time bugs turned and faced me head on, i took aim about a 1/4" up from between the eyes and squeeezed the trigger, No2 was in the bag with gaping hole in his head where the pellet had struck home.

Time was nearly up and thinking that was it for me i made my way to pick No2 up when i saw another pair of ears on the otherside of a mound about 50yrds in front of me, slowly making my way along the fence line i got within 30yrds and used the fence post to steady my shot, this time a sideways on shot dropped my aim by one mil dot and fired away, this time the pellet struck home directly in the eye socket. No3 thrashed around quite abit and i had that horrible feeling i'd only wounded it, i rushed straight over with the intention of a quick dispatch but as i neared i could clearly see a huge exit hole and plenty of claret, the movement was purley nerves.

With my hatrick complete i headed back for the car, as i neared the fence i saw what should have been No4 sat in the paddock very close to the owners house, knowing she didnt want them in there i thought i'd do the right thing and add him to the list, i shouldered the rifle centred the cross hairs and squeezed, the pellet flew between it's ears and hit the mound behind, it was the easiest shot of the night and i fluffed it, oh well it happens :icon_redface:

Here's the bag
