Phantom 631
Hi there, Are you talking about 'optical red dots' where the led dot is projected onto a glass screen? or are you talking about the "TruGlow" sights that have little optical fibres that collect light and make little bright spots at the end of them? or are you talking about "LASER" dots? May be a silly question, but many people confuse them and when I'm talking about one, they are talking about another type altogether So to help you I would need to know which 'Red Dots" you were talking about! Phantom 631
hi phantom sorry phantom did not know there was differant types which do you think would be best for steading pigeons and plinking General shooting I would suggest Telescopic sights Especially if your going to be going after Woodies or even ferral pigeon and Rabbits. As Mushroom stated, a telescopic sight with an illuminated Mildot retical would be ideal especially in low light. Laser sights are good for indoor shooting for things such as rats where you know its a reletively short range and you need to aquire a target at speed. For shooting Ferral and Woodies in VERY confined areas (small barn, small wharehouse etc) I would go for the old open or TruGlow open sights. The Optical LED Projection sights are also pretty good for indoor ratting and indoor pigeons, but I personally think they are best suited to outdoor Skirmishing and Paintballing Sorry it took so long to get back to you this time, working on a project for a friend! stealthy1 3,964
Red dot works well on the PS3, but not in real life, mill dots all the way, with illuminated reticule for evenings Quote Link to post
Phantom 631
I used the led projection red dot system on my pistol bow worked pretty well once I got the hang of it. Only problem was the 80lb prod used to shake the batteries out everyother shot Great for terrorising the old bitch coffin dodger next door  . Oh yeah I used laser dots on some of my pistols, hard to set up having three adjustment screws, but once don, they stayed zeroed for fast fire paper punching at 6 yards Phantom Quote Link to post
matt_hooks 188
The "holographic red dot" type sights were a cheap alternative to proper laser red dot sights, when lasers were expensive. Now they're ten a penny, I can't really see the point of the led types. Lasers are great for quick target acquisition at a known range, and if you're smart can be used to assist with range finding in conjunction with a telescopic sight. Quote Link to post
