spaying a jill

Recommended Posts

Its just a personal prefernce with me as well as i work jills i always think what happens if she turns out to be a cracking worker you cant bred from her to keep the line going . Where as getting the hob done you can always borrow a complete hob from a mate and still breed from the jill a couple of years down the line

When you keep jills entire, do you find jill jabs a workable alternative ?

ive got ten jills and i run them with a snipped hob as

Repeated use of the jill jab can cause lumps under the injection site

And last year most came into season three and four times each

So looking at the jills health and cost i figure a snipped hobs the best option for me

Ahh gotcha. I did wonder because the jill jab has only ever been a short term solution for us, and in some applications doesn't even drop them out of season properly. So i've always spayed.

£60 to get a jill spayed and £60 to get a hob castrated or £90 to get a hob vasectomised from my local vets

but shop around because vet prices vary a lot when our hob was vasectomised we were getting quotes up to £150 what a fu**ing joke
