gurtwurz 793
eh up lads, long time no post but i've just got back from helping run 5 back to back 24hr survival courses for a bunch of officer training cadets up in staffs and christ i'm knackered still!! up at 4.45 daily and crashed around midnight, in between showing 30ish cadets a day how to make shelters from natural materials, start fires with flint firestrikers and natural tinder, building signal fires, showing how to filter and purify water, navigate without map and compass day and night and of course how to prepare rabbits for the pot- i'll give you one guess who ran that lesson!!we put over 175 cadets through all in all, they were generally a good bunch of kids but i'll never get used to being called sir! i took the gas ram with me on the off chance, but we werent allowed to shoot owt on site which was a proper gutter cos there was squizzers everywhere, and after a couple of days they were getting proper bold, the best example of which was one of em actually ate through one of the officers' breast pockets on his combat jacket to get to a snickers bar whilst the geezer was asleep!! properly taking the p i thought so after a week of this i got back on saturday evening, absolutely tuckered out, but thought i better get on with some shooting... didnt get a chance till sunday evening as the missus dragged me out of bed to the sussex game fair... like i need more camo... got some target practice in with the rapid on monday morning, the r10's running at under 9 pds so that needs looking at, and the evo seems to shake the mounts off after a session so as i dont wanna spend half my life re zeroing it i guess its down to the ol' workhorse to get back on the case with... went out last night with my buddy john to have a go but whilst led up waiting for bugs to appear(and missing two earlier, put that down to buck fever )we found ourselves under seige from 3 adult foxes which wouldnt stay still long enough to sort out with john's .243, well one did but as all we had as a backstop there was a herd of sheep we had to leave it be... didnt think the farmer'd be too pleased to lose em... so i went out again bright and early this morning to my newest permission to find that the homeowner who borders one side of the field had decided to mow all the cover there so that was pony too, except after waiting 3/4 of an hour i managed to get one at 40 yds off the bipod, went to recover it and couldnt find it anywhere-i know i got it cos i saw it go down but i'm damned if i could find it anywhere... i was gonna go up to another shoot straight after but the missus decided she wanted to walk the dog too so that was that buggered up n all. gonna have to get up the valley later this week cos the freezers nearly empty- at this rate i'll have to go to tesco's... not too much to report hunting wise i'm afraid but at least i've got out a bit!! all the best, wurz 3 Quote Link to post
