hunting with vintage guns part 2

Recommended Posts

well lads, i got fairly lucky last week on holiday in wales when i popped into abergavenny guns and tackle, the guy specialises in old airguns so what should i see on the wall but an old bsa 1939 't' series in .22 running at approx 11 ft/lbs with proper old iron sights!

not quite what i was after(i want a .25 but theyre like hens teeth) but it'll definitely do the job, well, once i've got used to a proper heavy ol' trigger it will...

i'll put up some photos later if anyones interested, once i've finished work this afternoon.

funnily enough, i had a quick go with the R10 ready to go rabbiting tomorrow morning and my shootings improved 10 fold just from having to shoot an antique absolutely right, if nothing else the lincoln should improve my trigger technique no end!!

all the best, wurz

I'd love to own a piece of history like that  looks stunning :notworthy:

May I be so bold as to ask how much you the nasty old gunsmith claimed her for?

I had one of those when I was still at school, about 40 yrs ago. I bet I payed less than you for it, bought of a mate for 10s or 50p to you lot. I got chased by keepers while poaching pheasants with it. So I could run faster, I hid it on a big bracken bank, I went back several times but never could find it, it's probably still there. Ah well, them was the days.

i sent ya a pm regarding prices phantom mate.

@ sweeny, thanks bill mate, yep shes a long un- 45" or so- much longer than my other weapon :whistling: its gonna be a little while til i take her out proper, gonna need a bit of practise til i'm happier with my groupings, i'm using air arms field at the mo but i think H+Ns may suit better...

@ romany, i know what you mean about running off from gamekeepers-we used to poach the local trout farm overflow when we were nippers(although decimal currency was in by then  ) we used to shove the trout down our wellies and still outran the old bugger but it was hard going on a good day!! good times...

all the best lads, wurz
