gringo40 13
Hi Lads I've been in talks with farmer who lets me shoot on his land about a building job on his house. Eventually this week he gave me a call to say he'd decided to go ahead with the work. Result, a job on the farm where I can shoot, surely it doesn't get better than that! I needed to meet him to discuss the finer details, I gave my my mate Jim a call to tell him I was going up to meet the farmer, before I could finish telling him Jim had read my mind and said pick me up, I'll get the gun out. Off we went. I dropped Jim off at a at one of the fields where we'd seen a few rabbits before, I left him to it and went for my meeting. About an hour later meeting over I went to join Jim. I found him looking a bit p****d off, he'd seen plenty off rabbits but couldn't get near them. Undettered we decided to persevere, he went one way I went another. I could see a couple of our furry friends sat in a field not to far in the distance. I had a wire fence with a newly planted hedge between me and the rabbits, so I was crawling along the hedge to get them within range, I got to a point where they'd gone from view so I got to my feet but still crouching down continued along the hedge. It was after about five or six paces the rabbits came back into view but something caught my eye. About 15 or so yrds to my left, in the same field as me, Mr rabbit was just sat there. F**k me I thought how had it not seen me, I froze and wondered how was I going to raise my gun, take aim and shoot the bugger without him doing a Lynford Christie on me. Very very Slowly I moved lower, trying to get to my knees and at the same time raise my gun. All the time I was thinking you haven't got a prayer Gringo and sure enough Mr Rabbit set off, he ran about 30 yrds away but then stopped, right you little f****r now your having it. I took aim, got him in my sights, cross hairs on his head, ready to take the shot and off he goes again. The damb thing has only ran towards me and stopped about 15 yrds in front, gun still raised I got him back in by sights, last chance Gringo dont f**k it up. The trouble was my sights were zero'd in at 30yrds and were set on full magnification, It was like looking through the bottom of a pint glass. Mr Rabbit was out of focus and I needed hold under and he wasn't going to hang about while I altered my mag so i had to go with the blurred image. Squeezed the trigger and phutt, shot away and thwack. Didn't have to move that far to see our furry friend waving his final farewell, nice head shot despite everything. Off to find Jim. Not long before i saw him walking towards me, grin on his face and rabbits swinging from his hand. Nice result all round Fields we were shooting in Cheers Carl Edited May 3, 2010 by gringo40 Quote Link to post
