With VHD the infected bunny usually dies within the first 12 hours, those that survive the initial 12 hours become anorexic and will usually die within 2 weeks of starvation Remember my Manky Stinky bunny out of the grave? I think that may have been a survivor of the 1st 12 hours. I'm glad I got to it before it died of starvation, but boy did it stink There aint many things that can draw flies off a bag of freshly decaying internal organs and intestines is there? But that bunny cleared all the flys away from the guts and onto itself Phantom never heard of that desease lads, sounds f g horrible wurz Quote Link to post

They do develop a resistance over time and while the poor little buggers do suffer badly and many of them die from it, some do recover and pass on the resistance to the next generations. Rabbits wander from warren to warren and if the infection's there it'll soon get passed around. It lives in the fleas and they'll still be a fair few of those in the burrows after the rabbit's dead... If ever I've seen mixy on a shoot, I've always let it run it's course. The bloody thing's man-made anyway over in Auz to try to kill them over there 'cos they're not an indiginus (spelling??) animal there and they compete with the sheep for food. Just my thoughts.... Andy, I think that it should be left to run, but I agree with Wurz as well, there is no way were going to get every infected flea so if I were to come up against one I would probably have to have a serious debate with myself The original disease of Mixy is a natural disease from the South or Central America continent, it was engineered by scientists to be much more lethal (if I remember my facts correctly).
