Bosun11 537
Used to do a fair bit of lamping with my terriers BUT that was for rats, along the ditches that surrounded a local tip. Some fine sport to be had at that game, messy, wild an loads of fun, just how terriers like it! A good stick and a landing net comes in handy too. Terriers will stick to ditches if theres plenty on, quiet about it too, better that than f*****g off in the dark chasing rabbits, which i'll bet ya will happen. Enjoy! Quote Link to post

Tyla 3,179
If your so keen to get your terrier out on the lamp why not teach him to retrieve and take him when you lamp with the air rifle? That'd be useful and would build his confidence so if you find a suitable squatter for him he will beleive he can catch it. I've lamped with my terrier but only because both lurchers were laid up and i'd been bit by the lamping bug, its not very successful but better than staying in on a windy night. I have seen a guy run a staffy on the lamp successfully, much better than i expected but still not quite the same as a lurcher. At the end of the day you'd be better off finding a few lads that go bushing in the the daytime and tagging along with them and get yourself a running dog for lamping. Whatever you do, good luck Quote Link to post
