donk 12
Thanks for the replies lads. Im not exactly sure when he first joined up im still researching that bit. I do know he spent at least two years in the middle east area and was in jordan around 1957-1958 after king hussein requested help from the British government. From Jordan he went to Cyprus and spent some time there. I have a letter, which is a description of gifts presented to Major R.M.Carnegie by King Hussein of Jordan, which my dad had to present to the officials back in blighty. The gifts were in a sealed or locked box that my father had to keep with him at all times until he met up with the Major again back home. My father died in 1987 of cancer. I guess a lot of people might think that being a para he was a big bloke, big attitude and big ego. Dad was not like that. He was a gentleman, everyones mate, no one ever seemed to have a bad word to say about 'Jock'. Like a lot of fathers and sons we had fall outs, but i never raised my hands to him, i respected him too much. He was a hard but fair man and i miss the old bugger as much now as i did the day i sat with him and he died. Hopefully pegasus took him to a higher and better place.
