Mastiff 7
Hi all, Researching what I would need to take up long range full bore rifle shooting (don't think the Hawke from my air rifle will be up to the job of 500 yds +!) Haven't 100% decided on my first rifle but I'm thinking on the lines of a Winchester .308, could anybody recommend a suitable scope or scopes please? I'm not rolling in it but budget would be around 800, would rather by a decent scope that will do me for a long time than have to upgrade. Thanks very much, Mick. Quote Link to post

Thanks very much, Mick. unfortunatly the exchange rate has put glass prices through the roof, good target scopes are starting around£1200.keep your eyes open for s/hand there was a ziess victory for sale on here the other month so they do come up failing that look into a burris fulfield or nikkon monarch maybe a shepard.[bANNED TEXT] on here will know the name of the shop in scotland that does alot of ex demo swaroski (mcleads?)he's your best bet for s/hand Quote Link to post
rowey 1
Have a look at the meopta meostar 4-16x44 Tactic. For the money mate they are fantastic and right on your budget. If it's purely target you'll want greater mag but for dual purpose they are hard to beat. Edited March 11, 2010 by rowey Quote Link to post

Mick. A target shooter I ain't but I've used Schmidt & Bender and a Swarovski but my last 2 scopes are Meoptas and glass wise I can't tell the difference. I currently have a Meostar 3/12 x 56 but I'm keepering so foxing more than anything but try them and see before you buy. No sense shelling sh!t loads of cash out when you don't need to. It's generally true that you get what you pay for but unless your olympic grade can you justify shelling out 1200 notes. Make haste slowly mate and have a good look around. Quote Link to post

I agree got a meopta 7 x 50 0n a 270 cracking scope.what Im saying is if you want target turrets 20 mag and paralax adjustment you have to go for the up market names, but as you say dont rush and check the s/hand sections. provarmint 25
Sightron SIII would suit, budget and use. http://www.aimfieldsports.com/sightronscopes.htm Quote Link to post
mattydski 560
At your budget you could try Leupold Mk4 or an IOR from Border Barrels. Both would be more than up to the task Quote Link to post
Deker 3,478
This is the one you want, highly recommended http://www.rmacleod.co.uk/ I have been fortunate enough to put my head in this store about 6 years ago whilst on a trip up to Lairg for some sport! Anyone living in the area should be pleased to have such a RFD. Quote Link to post
