Casso 1,264
My old lurcher bitch used to howl in the shed ,trying to tell me that it was a good night for lamping, it would only happen on a moonless night with plenty of wind..any experiences similar to this, that told you that you were both signing off the same hymn sheet.. waidmann 105
my dogs would all howl when the hunting horn was sounded i think its great its quite a sight when the men playing the horn have working dogs sitting behind them like a pack of wolves calling the guns in( if the horn sounded during the hunt they would all come running to me no matter how far away they were at the time.only when on pigs would i have to "follow tongue". the big dog(lab x gsp x bgs) would howl at sirens(police, ambulance, fire engine) i think he may have been a bit confused by them(he was easily confused ). i think you know when the dog is thinking the same way as you when you just have to look in a direction where you think something may happen and the dog is either on the way or already there working together is the biggest pleasure of owning a dog imho,as opposed to having the dogs work for you the german have a saying " the first two years the hunter works for the dog, after that the dog works for the hunter, then they work together" waidmann Quote Link to post
