sandymere 8,263
If it's a reacurrring problem then a vets advice is worth getting. At this point you don't know what the problem is, could be an infection, these can last weeks, good kennel hygeine is a must ie wash feed bowls daily, clear up stools etc. So perhaps 24 hours water ( clean fresh daily), then retry the chicen & rice if theres any mucos after a day or two then vets, if not try with small amount of some fresh food, chappie maybe, and build up gradually. Try a couple of different types of feed and see if one suits, don't overfeed complete as it causes scouring, do try adding in other ingredients ie butchers waste, rabbits (pre frozen and defrosted), table scraps etc once the problem has settled, add all new ingredients slowly. I find wag with additions as above suits mine though many would disagree.

skycat 6,174
Can't set this in stone as no real scientific evidence, but I've noticed that mine have it if they need worming and once wormed it clears up. Also, if a dog is intolerant (slightly allergic) to something in the food then this happens too IMO. Again, no scientific evidence to back this up but it is a known fact that the body will produce mucous in an attempt to protect itself from whatever is irritating it: like sinus problems or throat problems producing mucous in heavy smokers. Similarly the gut produces mucous when irritated by a condition or certain food.

It's a little low on oil but as I feed a decent amount of butchers waste which is very fatty the total averages out ok.
