Accuract testing my Air Arms Pro Sport

Hi all here is some more footage from today.

I went out in the woods near my house with Dylan my lad and set up several small targets at a lased 40 metres (43.7 yards).

The targets were volvic bottle tops and milk carton tops which are considerably smaller than the recommended kill zone size of air gun quarry.

Before someone comments that the pellets were not in the dead centre of each target I was sat against a tree with no rifle rest, resting the rifle on the palm of my hand and on my knee.

I’m 100% sure that with my rest the targets would have been hit centrally each time.

The footage as been edited to speed things up as walking 80 metres each time I wanted to inspect the targets was taking up too much time, i also missed the second small blue target on the first shot and needed to shoot it a second time to find my POI at 40 metres.

I hope that you enjoy the footage.

Ive just measures the size of the targets and they were a little bigger than i estimated on the video.

The volvic top is 28mm

and the milk top is 38mm

The smaller target well is within a kill zone size, and the larger target is just within the kill zone size.

HI Shay,

Yes mate the rifle is really nice to shoot and so smooth too.

Id like to see how it does in a sterile range with no wind at 40 metres mate.

I bet it would beat alot of PCPs if the PCP owner was not an accomplished shot at that range.

When i get to Germany i intend to join my old shooting club again and compete with it against the German shooters.

Im sure it will win me a few bits of silver here and there  .

My idea is to shoot a springer while I'm over there, improving my shooting to make me a better shot and then when i get home on leave start my new DVD.

By then i should be a pretty good shot and get some good footage.

It will also pay off if i do that because the next time i use my PCPs again my shooting should be spot on.

hi ya si buddy

well matey what can i say but top job buddy and yeah like you said matey no wind straight shots buddy on a range you aint going to be far off if your knocking targets like that at 40mtrs with the wind againest you with a springer as well buddy they really cant say alot to be honest with ya si can they ? as proof is in the pudding so to speak it always makes me smile when people buy a springer to used on the target range and cant hit the target we get them all the time and the first thing you hear people say is well trade it in for a pcp !!!! :o when if like a lot of people do on here is put the home work in and use the gun the way it should be used they wouldnt have a problem using it on the range as like yourself si and it's good when i see people on here tryin or asking for the help even if it aint need and they just want to know. as springers are a very good gun and easy gun to use if you put the home work in like they do with the pcp's hey si but i think with all your dvd's you have shown this and people are starting to take a different outlook on guns ie springers and pcp's. i honestly think that when you are over there matey you will do as you have done here matey made a big impression on the forum and then the german range so all the footage you take we all want to see buddy

Yep thats not a problem Shay buddy.

I will keep the forum updated of my ventures.

Im sure that i will dream something up over there to video for you all.

Yep as you say mate a springer is as good as the shooter and if time is spent learning to shoot correctly the rewards will be there.

The flipping tiny blue bottle top at the start of the footage (second target) was a bit of a nightmare to find my point of aim Shay, as it was right on a circle of the SR12 reticule and I was wobbling about like a mad man in a gale force wind :censored: .

I had 2 shots at it before I knew where to aim to get it spot on.

The first shot went a little left by about 5mm and the second shot nailed it.

Once id found my POI though i just used it for the rest of the test and it worked just fine.

Video editing software is good stuff though mate and allows you to miss all that rubbish and misses out and get down to the real business, only keeping the good footage.

hi ya si

Cheers Farmer mate.

It would of been better if i had hit the little blue top first shot mate, but thats life as they say.

Im sure with a few more months of practice with the springer ill know its holdover a points little better.

Saying that i shot slightly left, but correct for up / down, so it was probably more of a wobbly due to not having a proper rest with me and resting it on my knee :censored: .

Hiya Si.

Excellent shooting.

Years of experience, and hour's of practice showing through in that vid.

Hell of a difference shooting spring, as opposed to the P.C.Ps, the pre charged are so bloody easy to shoot with.

A springer however is not so forgiving, and being a recioling rifle, the need for good technique is criticle.

Just a sugestion mate,I think it may be worth your while producing a video on how to shoot correctly, using and applying the techniques needed to achieve the results seen in your video.

Especialy for complete novices, I reckon a lot of novice shooters would apprecieate that, because not all of them have accsess to a club to gain the experience and instruction.

Good stuff Si.

Hi Bill,

Thanks for your comments pal

Its very kind of you buddy :icon_redface: .

I know in myself that i want to improve quite alot more with a springer though as its a recoiling rifle ill be using in Germany.

I will look at making a small video on that subject though pal before i go to Germany.

The problem with YouTube though is that you are only allowed 10 minutes per video so ill either have to edit it to death or make it in two parts to get the techniques over to the viewer.

Ill look into it pal.
