Ok pipple, this a light hearted one. There have been quite a lot of threads in here about names for dogs. Folk who have dogs and want names for them. Well, I have two great names for dogs, and no dogs to give them to. In Roman mythology the god Mars was the God of War. He had two dogs, called Phobos and Deimos. In "Julius Caesar" Shakespeare has Caesar's spirit say "Cry 'Havoc!.' and let loose the dogs of war". Swift in Gulliver's Travels says that the people of Laputa had identified two moons of Mars. At the time it was thought that Mars had no moons. In 1877 the American astronomer Asaph Hall, observing Mars during a close conjunction and using the latest telescope, discovered that Mars does in fact have two moons, situated just where Swift said they would be. He named them Phobos and Deimos. It strikes me that Phobos (pronounced foe/boss) and Deimos (pronounced dye/moss) would be great names for a couple of coursing lurchers. Cry "Havoc" and let loose the dogs of war indeed!

Just a thought . . .
