rex 8
Hi guys, Just a thought, I have recently brought a red filter for my lightforce 170, I am happy with the results it gives but not so impressed with how awkward it is to fit and remove. To me its noisy and a pain in the ar*e. I am looking into modifying the mounting, I think the flick out style on the small logun gun mounted lamp is great. has anyone done anything like this on ther 170? Quote Link to post
nighteyes 275
be a good idea if someone made somthing like the logun design, your right they are a pain the only thing i do too mine is attach it to the lamp with string so when i flick the filter off it just hangs plus you never lose this way, but would be great if they made a flick up design. pandy 0
[bANNED TEXT] iv done mate, is cut all but one of the clips off, put a small hinge on the bottom (screw it to the lamp and the filter) then the one clip left just hooks over the top then when you slip the dog push the clip on top and it just hangs on the hinge. job done, atb pandy Quote Link to post
codmaster127 64
i did exactly the same thing, saw it on a post on here and copied , i was a bit worried in case it didnt work or the plastic would split ect, but it does work and is well worth doing,(drill small pilot holes first in the plastic and use a small brass hinge), there was pics put up explaining how to do it, Quote Link to post
Guest fence_hopper
i tried asmall hinge...crap dont wreck your lamp just deal with it or get a dimmer Quote Link to post

leegreen 2,262
My friend has done an almost succesful modification, but it leaks a little light. The only time I need to use a white lense is on a long slip and you don't need to take off the red filter untill the dog is running, so you just need a bit practice at taking off the filter without losing track of your quarry, saying that I do tend to drop my filter a bit . Edited to say the Clulite has the best action filter but the lamp has a wide beam. Edited January 27, 2010 by leegreen Quote Link to post
stormrider8 59
I have drilled a 32 mm hole through the centre of the red lense, this way you can lamp and find your quarry without spooking the whole field. When you slipp your dog put ya finger in the hole and pull off your lense, it works realy well and also with the hole in the lense gives a much further range.. I found the red lense had a very short range without the hole!! Quote Link to post

If you left a tab at the bottom you could pull it out in a split second aslong as its cut to the right size it should sit in without anything holding it. Quote Link to post
