Have any of you people come across the phenomenon of not being able to shoot a certain critter. I'm not going to give the bird away but I have had this thing in my cross hairs at least half a dozen times but bugger me I can't shoot the damned thing. :icon_redface:

With me, it's a moving target! :icon_eek: I'm actually considered quite the 'crack shot', with a rifle ..... as long as the damn thing's still enough for me to get sighted on. But a shot gun? Something shifting about the place? Forget it!

What I tend to do is raise my face too far, so I'm looking at the target from some inches above my right hand, over the end of the gun. Then I focus on the target. Lose all track of it with the end of the gun. And squeeze the trigger in frustration, even though I'm completely aware there is absolutely no correlation between my 'Bead' and the damn thing I'm supposed to be trying to shoot!

Yes. I need training. Or glasses. Or to stick with rifles and sneaking up on stationary things with a shot gun!

once had a white crow in the district could have shot loads of time but stopped myself only to see how long it would stop before it dissapeared. it lasted 3yrs not bad for our way as something unusual has a life expectancy of minutes.a white stoat showed itself a few years back and i had a few attempts with the terriers but it was like quick silver and lost it everytime one day it snowed and i went to feed up to find it dead killed by my old spanish cross gamecock you could see the prints in the snow where they had met. i think it had attacked a hen and got a drilling off the old cock that killed him.
