advice for total beginner

hi all,as you can see iam new to this forum.can anyone pls give me some advice on getting a lurcher for lamping,done a bit with freinds in scotland years ago but now living in eire,what would be best dog,how much would it cost?,how do i go about training the dog ect.sorry if the questions sound a bid daft.thanks in advance.

hi mate get yourself a pup and train it your self dont go buying some dog that is allready lamping cause 9 times out of 10 it will be be sh##t.if its just for lamping rabbits u want it for a good first cross whippet greyhound would be perfect. u should pay around 100 to 150.start with d basic trainning recall sit stay then start her off on the retriveing.when its around 11 months old bring her out with d lamp keep her on slip all d time look for a rabbit that is squatted in d middle of a field walk d pup out as close as u can 2 d rabbit get it up and leave d pup course it.give it bout 4 rabbits like dis a nite bout twice a week take it slow and it will pay off in the long run.hope this helps mate atb.

All depends where you are in Ireland, but could arrange a session out with the dogs if you like, you can see the lads running different types of working working and make ur mind up. :thumbs:
