Contact your local Firearms Officer get your paper work sorted and post a cheque then visit your local gun shop and try a few for size

Not forgetting you will need a gun cabinet

As above it will save you time if you get a cabinet screwed on the wall for when the fire arms oficer visits you or else you will need to make a second appointment when its fitted..

You will also need two people to be referees used to be they had to be proffessional people (Doctor, Lawyer etc) not sure if that is still the case but your fire arms officer would advise you. It costs £50 for the cert.

Best of luck

you only need one referee for the shotgun certificate, if you know someone who as the sgc/fac and they have known you for two or more years they can sign as long as they are not related to you

It used to have to be a "person of standing in the community", same as you would need to sign a passport application but I got a mate who's a glazing manager to be my countersignatory. He was also one of the referees on my FAC. The firearms office never contacted him regarding either application
