most hares caught in a day

Recommended Posts

Quality comment karslberg, looks like there could have been a lot of rich men out there if they'd matched their super or they could have one some good competitions with them. I wonder what time of the year these bags were taken and I'd reckon that its bullshit that big bags are caught off decent slips in january

Not everybody who has owned good hare killing dogs wished to enter competitions or win large sums of money they just enjoyed their sport and kept a low profile.

THATS TRUE POACHER. IVE KNOWN MEN THAT WHEN THEY HAD A TASTE OF MATCHING THEIR DOGS,EVEN WITH SUCCESS NEVER DONE IT AGAIN. MATCHING COULD TURN A FRIEND AGAINST FRIEND OVER MONEY OR REPUTATION. ALSO THE SLIPS OR QUALITY OF THE HARE COULD COME IN TO QUESTION. TAKE ANY 3 PEOPLE THAT WATCHED A DOG COURSE A HARE & THE 3 PEOPLE CAN EASILY HAVE DIFFERENT VIEWS ON HOW THE CHASE PLAYED OUT, THATS JUST HUMAN NATURE WITHOUT TAKING THE PEOPLE THAT JUST WANT 2 CRAB OTHER PEOPLES DOGS IN TO ACCOUNT. THE "old Meg would have caught that hare" TYPE OF MENTALITY., SO EASY 2 LOSE SIGHT OF THE ENJOYMENT & SPORT THAT SHOULD COME 1st & FOREMOST FROM THE GAME (pre ban)

i`m sure people on here know that hares are caught more easily at certain times of the year,

and hare`s are not as good in certain area`s as others,

but in january in cambridgeshire i have seen big name dogs catch 0 out of 3

or 1 out of 3... if the hare`s are being knocked over too easily you should leave them alone and try somewhere else

what`s the point of killing poor hare`s ?.. it dosen`t mean you have a good dog

well said dogs are made famous because they maybe once killed 5 or 6 o7 but we all know its consistency that makes a dog i can take you too places where hares would rollover and die then when teh lads get into teh pub and say i caught 7 legendary status falls upon them. i been out with foxy when she only killed one hare in match and won teh problem with lads now they talk about having match dogs and there dog teh best and that but they havent really proved themselves and matched other top class animals.this internet is easy to make legends years ago it was matching that made legendary dogs like swoop foxy and snowy not what someone told someone.. as long as u happy with dogs u have, and have some good crack when u go out thats what it all about you dont have to kill 5s and6s to enjoy a good day.some people forget how they first got into dogs for seeing there dogs work and get too obsessed with what other peoples dogs are doing.

COULDNT AGREE MORE KARLSBERG. HAD THE PLEASURE OF SEEING FOXY & SNOWY & DOGS LIKE DANCER, LUCKY, SNIPER TO NAME A FEW. THESE DOGS PROVED THEMSELVES WHEN RAN & VIDEOD FOR ALL TO SEE. SADLY THE GAMES CHANGED & ITS A CASE OF TAKING WHAT ENJOYMENT YOU CAN FROM YOUR DOGS. YOUR POINT ON INTERNET LEGENDS IS WELL PUT,IVE NO DOUBT THERE ARE QUALITY ANIMALS OUT THERE.SADLY MANY PEOPLE USE PATS ON THE BACK OR COMMENTS FROM ASSOCIATES 2 BUILD A REPUTATION ON SITES. ENJOY YOUR DOGS, ENJOY YOUR SPORT & THE CRAIC IN DECENT COMPANY & YOU WILL FIND IT FAR MORE REWARDING THAN WORRYING ABOUT COMPARING YOURSELF & YOUR DOG TO OTHERS

well said mate. I got a dog thats grandson to swoop, rough coat and feathered, come winter time dec, jan he would kill 3s or 4s if he got his first, if he missed his first hed always get me 1, but when running early season would lose more than winter, dont know if its the heat cos of rough coat, or he took longer to get top fitness, he caught all over the country, fens, cambridge, kent, romney marsh, up to he was 7. after that I lamped him on charlie, and would catch 6 or 7 longears on lamp, and introduced him to the bigger stuff, catching the only two i slipped him on single handed, he has no name, not many people heard about him because i didnt match him, but went to few matches with him for after match, they were being won with 1 hare, hed get three, bet theres plenty dogs out there like him. hes 11 now and caught two on seperate days last week running free after being in kennels all year. now thats what you call a dog. wouldnt swap him for any top names, hed run his self to death for me. his mother was good too and everyone knew it. she was stolen after my first decent season, best keep it to yourselves boys whether you catching 10 a day.

There you have it in a nutshell my friend. A sportsman can share in the joy of watching someone elses dog put in a breathtaking performance whilst the egotist only wants to talk of his own dog.

Agree Bolio, I have driven tens of thousands of miles (without a dog) just to watch other peoples dogs run on all the biggest land there is and hear other peoples opinions and methods. Its the only way to learn  Was chatting to Col the other day....Top man. Likes his crumpets well buttered!! :D:victory:
