Man drags wife from car......??

Recommended Posts

the wife was outta the car swampy, and the son was in the car as the car was sinking, knowing that he may end up loosing both trying to save his son..... he took the option of saving his wife who could be saved......!!!!

logic would determine that saving one, rather than loosing both was the right decision..... A tough heart rendering call but yes i think he made the right decision....

Snap.

Snap - yes, right call. You must have been in these triage situations. When emergency crews are on site they have to make a three way decision. If someone can survive with first aid, give quick help and move on. Then you have the hard one. If a victim is going to die walk away and let her die. If she has a chance then you do everything you can to save her.

In this one the guy had a horrifying choice. If he tried to save his son and failed he would lose both. If he saved his wife then tried to save his son he could be sure of saving one and might save the other.

i've seen triage care, and why does every major incident care centre use it........ Because it works....

I do hope he gets the help he needs Asap....

Someone said 4 mins to brain damage in a comment, thats IF she hasn't gone underwater, and cannot be found.......by the time he tries to get to the son, water is very disorientating and in a situation like this your not gonna think to take reference points as to your position and the others....

its something that will live with him, all to sadly.

It is easy to sit at the keyboard and discuss this whilst we are detached from the situation.

No decision would be the wrong one in this instanc, for the guy making it.

I would hope that my wife would leave me to save my son or daughter..That's my point of view only.

When I was in the Falklands we were told that in an emergency ie a bomb blast or such that we are supposed to treat the ones that were obviously alive but NOT screaming! The ones that were screaming in agony are supposedly going to be OK. How the fek does anyone ignore that?

I'm glad it wasn't me to make that decision and I'm glad that I'm not in the emergency services or forces. (My upmost respect to them all.)

I am glad that my father threw me in the deep end of a swimming pool to teach me how to swim. Hated him at the time but it was a lesson well learnt.)

I believe it should be compulsory at schools that children learn how to swim.

Mine may be the wrong choice/decision but I'll stand by it.

you are all to right that it is easy to sit and access the situation from behind the keyboard,

but how would he have felt loosing both.... its really a no win choice, but i believe he made the right decision, as one life spared is better than none....

And as you say swampy, you would of tried to save the child, but lets hope we never have to make the decision...

Jesus!!!

I personally would do all I can to save my child, not a nice choice to make though is it.

as a firefighter it could happen to me easy enough , but we have to make a choice, i see the man's point if you think about i now it a hard one to do ,

go for the child in the car leave the wife to drown!!!!

go for the wife and the child to drown !!!!!!

i go for the wife first as she was in the most danger !!! and was be washed away , the child could of being dead !!! so if he went for the child the two could of died , then again the child could of being safe in he car even upside down it would have air in there !!!!!!!!but again i was not there and it was not my wife or kids you just have to make the call, and suffer, ye might say i am a bad c**t but that how life is, so hard at time,
