jpt 285
I am just starting out with my ferret and I want a dog to work with her. What is the best dog to use in conjunction with my ferret working for rabbits? Cheers, JPT Quote Link to post
Paid 935
What sort do you like ? As thats the best. Any lurcher can work alongside ferrets imho Quote Link to post
jpt 285
I have seen nice whippets but the ones with bigger, stronger heads than the usual. I saw an absolute beauty the other day in a bluey/grey colour. The bloke said it was laguna or somthing. I would like a smooth coat really about 23 ish inches. JPT Quote Link to post

What is the best dog to use in conjunction with my ferret working for rabbits? Cheers, JPT Good and bad points in every dog mate...dont think you could go far wrong with a beddlington whippet cross though...one of the favoured types for ferreting...but saying that you put the time and effort into any dog and it ll be sound...my ones 19 to the shoulder and not a lot gets away... Guest grubygrafter
a whippet or three quarter whippet.cross . is good . but if you need it for other tasks /lamping etc. a bigger dog is better. Quote Link to post

blando 0
this is my little whippet shes only 15 mounths (thats an old pic) but she is showing some good prommis on her first few trips out ferreting and lamping, only thing is at the end of the day after catching them in the hedge she comes back a bit scratched up as she is quite thin skined a beddy cross mite be more suited. Is it a whippet/grey or simalar? sorry i forgot to say its a non-ped racing whippet bit different to the peds and genraly faster, i think they have terrior blod in them to give them a bit more fight. shes the sister to little bill = Vivs Quest X Simply Red, if that means anything to anyone :11: (if anyone is intereseted in them this is the main forum with them on k9 whippets ) I was thinking of puting a bedlington over her but shes only 19" and quite built so i think the pups might turn out a bit small. first time out on the lamp, going again this fryday if its not to hot for her second propper go ive been doing a lot of cycling with her to try and get her fit shes slowly getting there front Edited September 13, 2006 by blando Quote Link to post
jpt 285
Nice bed x whippet you have there Mike. I want something a little bigger but my uncle loves that cross. He has a whippet and wants a lurcher. Do you know of any good breeders? Blando do you know what is in your dog? Looks like there could be Irish terrier if any terrier as they are the same colour. What do you think? I have seen some whippets that are perpose breed for working at shows. I was wondering where I could find a good breeder. I have had a look at Lynperry's site which looks great. There is also Mike's working whippets at http://www.webstoreuk.com/whippets.html which looks good aswell. I have seen PennyMeadow on this site. Are they breeders? JPT Quote Link to post
