Every time I walk my 8 month old lurcher in this certain field, she stops at the same place for a crap, and then sniffs around this big patch of nettles with the odd bramble and wild rose growing in the middle, well the last week or so she's been markning it to death, so much so I nearly had to go back and kick her arse for dawdling, the thing is, I've never seen any rabbits dash in there, or seen any signs of rabbits, to be honest I've given it a wide berth because it looked like to much hastle to ferret, even if it managed to grab any interest from me, in the middle is some big dead stumps covered in Ivy. Well today I thought I'd give the dog the benifit of the doubt, and if she was wrong and wound me up for the last couple of weeks for nothing, I could then kick her up the arse without feeling guilty :) Due to the snags and nettles I gave purse nets the thumbs down, laying in bed tinggling all night just does'nt appeal to me :D So my weapon of choice would have to be the quickset longnet, the only down side to this plan was that Saff my lurcher had never seen a longnet before :( OH DEAR! I thought, but she has to learn some time eh! So we arived at the nettle forest, I looked at the dog and let out a sigh, but I have to say, she was up for it big style, I could see Christmas in her eyes :D So I ran the longnet around the dredded patch, next job was to get the dog to jump the net rather than crash through it, ten minutes later, we were ready for war :D I chose Anikah my polecat jill to do the bolting, she's quick, and she does'nt mess about, if the rabbits dont wont bolt, then she will bite chunks off their arses until they do :D By now it was getting really hot, I cant believe we are nearly into November  Anyway, jill entered, dog switched on, one ear up, one ear down when she's concentrating :) Here's a vid of here marking these nettles, would you have given it a go with a mark like this.

With a quick sqeal the first rabbit burst through the nettles into the net, I'm sure I saw my dog look at me with Roger Moore eyebrows :D One up to the dog. I could here thumping as Anikah worked her way further into the nettle jungle, and then another bunny shot for the net, bounced off and landed in front of the Saff, another one up to the dog :icon_redface: I was starting to wonder if the dog was right, and there may be a rabbit or two on this patch :D Here's Saff and Anikah working the nettles, with out the aid of dock leaves :D

Then up from the nettles jumped rabbit number three, it must have been squating down planning its escape, but the dog soon foiled that plan, three up to the dog :icon_redface: Rabbit number four hit the net and was well caught, another one added to the dogs marking tally :icon_redface: Ok! I admit I should have listened to the dog

I was thinking that it was time to pack up, it was so hot I was starting to think it may become to much for Saff if she carried on putting in the effort she was, so just after rabbit number five hit the mesh I decided to pick up the net and go home, five from a place I thought I would get stung to f**k for nothing in really paid off, dog if I ever doubt you again :D Sorry! no end of day pick, by the time I had wound up the net I was melting, so gave it a miss, but here's one of Saff sorting out one of the five.

I'll tell you what mate, I started off with a jacket, fleace, tea shirt, vest shirt, by the time I packed up I was just wearing the vest shirt, and I got a tan on one side, never known it be this warm at this time of the year, have you? :D
