When we owned India in the good ol' days it was the only way we could eat the rotten meat. Sailors used to curry their meat for the same reason. Problem is, chap, that 17000 years ago the only hominid species living on the British mainland were Homo neanderthalensis. They have left no direct descendants. Neanderthal's died out around 30,000 years ago but possibly as soon as 24,000 years ago but this is widely dismissed. Homo sapiens (Modern Humans) arrived in Britain around 30,000 years ago but were driven out again by the last ice age, but they returned around 16,000 years ago.
