Night Hunter 109
i took my sons one to a place in dundee to get fixed it cost £50 it only had one flashing light and as said before it has been back every month for three months i have spent loads on fuel going back and forward, would have been cheaper buying a new one i have heard that the manufacturer was replaceing faulty units if they were less than 2 yrs old and had the microsoft security seal intact defo not worth the hasstle of fixing it in my experience Edited October 4, 2009 by Night Hunter

Malt 379
Microsoft should be punished in some way by trading standards, there's a 50% fail rate with the 360. If any other company had figures like that they'd be done for selling goods unfit for purpose...
c side 21
Just put one right in the last half hour , first i did the towel trick , which fixes sound and no picture , then i did the` squeeze ` started it up , waited for the RROD , turned it off and suueezed it hard in th etop third of the case , turned it on and presto Towel trick http://www.wikixbox360.com/thread/1328129/...!?offset= Squeeze http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_iHVTeSTr0
stubby 175
the towel trick all your doing is making it overheat and re setting itself, not curing the problem, the problem is due to the seal breaking between the CPU and the heatsinks, which is caused by overheating, theres lots of "cheap" fixes on e bay, most dont work, even those selling the x clamp fix bolts, are not suppling everything to fix it, they are 8 washers short... you need to remove both heatsinks, plus the x clamps, clean the joint areas on both the cpu's and heatsinks, apply some artic silver thermal paste, bolt the heatsinks back in place HAND TIGHT ONLY, re connect power supply without fan and leave on for at least 4 minutes to get hot, then do the bolts up TIGHT, this makes the seal between cpu's and heatsink, leave for an hour to cool down, then re assemble
Night Hunter 109
before i took my sons up to dunee i had a look inside and did not see the x clamps that you say should be there i found the heatsinks but defo no x clamps on the underside of the board heatsinks were held in by screws could this be a different board or setup ?
