hagar 5
Poor bugger that wire is pain, best thing to do is take some clippers and cut the barbs off, leave the wire intact just remove the danger Quote Link to post

Bootsha 1,306
It's the devils own stuff is barb, a good idea is carry a pair of pocket size wire snips / cutters in your pocket (electrician style plyers) if your out with any breed of dog that jumps fences. Particularly if the barb is slack, it's not always easily untangled, often easier to snip and remove before bits of your dog stay there permanent like . Obviously try and make good after like, but if your dog needs attention, it'll have to wait to be repaired Quote Link to post
woz 260
i wont have my dogs jumping it....i was out last week with my pup and she ran a rabbit and missed it,i turned the lamp off and she picked another up on her way back.she ran it in the dark for a good 100 yrds and hit a four strand fence flat out.heard her yelp as the wire went tight i put the lamp on to see her limping back to us.she was very lucky and only needed a stitch in her foot....i hope the penny has dropped with her and she has learned not to chase without the lamp.....hope ya dog gets better soon mate Quote Link to post

Obviously try and make good after like, but if your dog needs attention, it'll have to wait to be repaired Just before Christmass last year , my home bred lurcher jumped a barb fence, got hung up and was duly lifted off,no worries, trouble was he'd cut his femural artery up the side of his cock ( a small cut, less than 1" ) and as hard as I tried to stem the hosepipe style flow of blood with my hand, he bled to death in my arms, I buried him there and then. As hard as it was for me ( and beleive me it was), it was nothing compared to trying to explain to my two children why Blue wasn't coming home. Although I dont think that snips would have helped him, they hopefully will help others. Sorry to cheer you all up with my little tale. The only good barb wire fence is a flat fu@ker !!
