scouse moocher 0
Just thought id put this out there see wether anyones has any experience or knowledge of A.I'ing in dogs??? The bloke i work for has had a handfull of his labradors done and has had great success, another friend who breeds bulldogs has just had his first bitch A.I'd but the semen was taken from his own stud dog. The bloke who does it can also freeze semen, which i think is a brilliant idea for someone wishing to preserve a bloodline in anybreed, 5, 10, 15 years down the line the frozen semen could be used to inseminate a chosen bitch therefor breeding a litter of maybe second generation puppies, when it suits them ... maybe theres more to it than i believe there is but im purchasing some whelping equipment from the guy this week so intend to pick his brains lol... Just a thought Ant
Guest MOLLY
A pals dog died of cancer quite young. He was such a superb dog he always wanted a pup from him, but thought he had plenty of time and never found the right bitch. When he found out the worst he had his semen frozen, so now when the right bitch comes along he can have him back again. MOLL.

Just a thought Ant How do they do it though? Who knocks one out of the dog? How much does it cost? I think last time someone posted about this someone said its not natural and i agree in a way but like other people said its a way of bringing back a top bloodline. My whippet won't let anything near it so she would be a turkey baster candidate if i wanted to beed her Gnipper

pointer28 1
Used to work in a sport horse stud and we do this the whole time, it means that we can export semen all over the world and it also cuts down on stress, because you don't have to travel mares and foals all over the world. Simple enough to collect the semen from a dog I'd imagine, we had to do it with some VERY nasty stallions, which could very easily kill or maim you.
Guest JDF
had it done a few times by a greyhound vet, very quick and easy.the only time it didn't work though was when the bitch was brought in season artifically.
