How long should my nets be

hi guys,

 

Just wondering but I have just started making my own nets....

 

I have made it 15 meshes across and I am wondering how many along they should be.

3ft 6 or 4ft depends on the individual i make mine 19 meshes long also have a few which could be 4ft6 ish they are 2 colours so i know they are the big nets i make mine 12 meshes wide

I used to measure mine but now i just get it somwhere near 3ft and empty the needle i found i can judge it quite well now and i don't think the rabbits measure them anyway

3ft is a good allround size, but make some 3 ft 6 and 4ft nets to, the more your ferreting the more you'll learn what you need for your ground.

Make mine starting with 8 out to18 and back down to 8 to finish them off 23 meshes long 21/4" come out just under 4'6"

Remember you can put a big net over a little hole, but you cant cover a big hole with a little net

Make mine - 4'-0" & 3'-6" long x 18 meshes wide, 3'-0" x 16 meshes wide. My lace(mesh stick) is 1 3/4" wide.

Hello mate, just a matter of interest why do you use 2 1/4" mesh nets in between

Bigger rabbits i like there heads to come threw the mesh and kill them in the net mate

in all honesty id avoid purse nets of various lengths and find a single size , after all a decent size purse net will cover most sized rabbit holes you may come across, anything larger or more arkward is covered with a poke net. for purse nets i opt for a 2" mesh, the nets are knitted 18 meshes by 21 , catches all but the smallest of rabbits with no fuss.
