Duffus Traps walking!

Duffus traps that just disappear! :(

Well not quite but I've had a few pinched over the past month.

My mate tells me he has lost over 100 this year.

Is it just North Lincolnshire or do you all suffer from this?

If you do, what do you do to protect them apart from chaining the dog over them? i.e. :ninja: or :gunsmilie: or =@

It makes my piss boil does this. You buy decent traps and they get pinched so you buy cheap traps and they are shite, its a vicious circle.

I look at the area and work out what the chances are they will get pinched. Sports pitches and fields near roads are bad for pinching. Its awful when you get stung for a load, they cost that much.

Try-

Moving your markers say 6ft in one direction so the markers are away from the traps but you know the distance. -

Not putting markers in at all! i do some school fields which get hammered so on a weekend i put 5 duffus traps in, not mark them but remember where i put them-sounds harder than it actually is, you can see where youve cut out a sod of earth, but it doesnt attract the thieving scrotums.

You can also use sticks as markers rather than your normal marker, they dont catch the eye as much and you know what your looking for.

Other than that use shite traps in dodgy fields, it isnt proffesional but when you start to lose a few morals tend to dissapear.

I normally don't put markers in unless the owner uses a sit on mower or a mobility scooter to trundle round on but, as most of my friends are like me ancient or just knackered, wheels are in common use where I 'play'. Luckily I dont work commercial or agricultural, just 'friends' ( it's amazing just how many new friends I've acquired ) and family.

The odd few that have been taken last month all had markers though and normally in built up places with footpaths running alongside. . . . . . . . . still, as most of my 'clients' are pals, they reinburse me for lost traps.

As for you professionals, keeps pricing of jobs high doesn't it and that's never good for business!

One Dorset guy I speak to adds on the price of two new traps per domestic job and a dozen for every agri / commercial job (per month) just to keep his stock levels up now because of his losses.

As for burying the traps upside down, love that idea! :good:

How many points do I get for a severed finger or two?? :hmm:

I'd be surprised if you don't have an ordinance survey map of your surrounding area than you could put a cross on (in pencil!!) to mark roughly where you put it then once your looking in the right place you ought to remember. Or, as said, use natural markers such as sticks, rocks, small insignificant piles of leaves or suchlike.

Hi folks I do quite a few parks as I have the contract with the local council, what I do is tie a piece of hazard tape to the top of the spring arm say 6 inches long and then when the trap is set and buried you leave just the smallest piece showing in the soil remove the earth sod somewhere out of the way and make a note of how many traps you have set in each area you need to look for that may pieces of tape these are usually ignored by scrotes or they fail to see them yet you will know each little square of bare soil is where your trap is.I have also used crisp packets and drinks cans before now as no scrote would ever pick em up and put them in the bin.

I have never lost a trap using this method also go late when there are fewer people about or go first light no scrote gets up that early.

Hope this helps

all the best Phil
