should i kennel her or is it out of order

Recommended Posts

alrighty lads an lasses. my little jrt that i took of someone a couple of years ago has very sensitive skin the bitch is hyper allergic to everythging that a rabbit carries fleas etc if she recieves one flea bite she will chew and rub herself to pieces so bad that her skin is the same colour as a london bus. now my retrieving dog little mo picks up all the rabs for me (all dogs have to be frontlined every three weeks to keep the bitch clear of fleas) but obviously it takes 24 hrs for frontline to kill all of them. now the mrs has turned round and said that i should build a kennel out back and when i've been shootin kennel the staff until the next day when hopefuly the fleas will be dead or gone. the staff is 15 months old and has never been kenneled is this fair (no i aint anti or soft and don't leave any daft comments i already offered to barrel the jrt but the wife stopped speaking to me for two days :whistling:)

as i've said we frontline every three weeks

the jrt is on half a steroid a day and eats skinners hypoallergic dog food that's 30 notes a bloody 15 kilo bag wee try to take all precautions if anyone has any advice on this it would be much appreciated.

All these probles have been caused by the neglect of the previous owner!!!

Hell I'd hate that and to move the dog outdoors from in will be hard on you all, even though it only be a short while at a time, the dog for sure will not like it. My main concern would be the possibility of any change this could make to the dog.

What if you get the kennel made and just introduce him to it as just being there for all the dogs to go in? I'd say that by doing this, when he has to go in there it won't be such a shock and he won't see it as an issue

You need to make the kennel the most attractive place to be: plenty of bedding, toys, a roof over its head to keep the sun or rain out, enough room in the pen to pee and crap well away from the bed area.

BTW: I've known many dogs with so called allergies which have disappeared altogether when the dog has been put on a raw food only diet. Many dogs are very mildly allergic to something or other in commercially made dog food, which can cause extreme reactions to flea bites or other irritants.

What are you feeding the dog?

we've tried everythin BARF, very expensive dog biscuits all sorts found skinners hypoallergic to be the best (and dearest) for her. if you had seen her when i kidnapped her you would have been disgusted NO FUR, RED CRACKED BLOODY SKIN and a fookin shtty terrier jumper on to hide the evidence that she was a walking flea colony :realmad: :realmad: we've spent £££££s trying to help her what we do now is the best we can.

this is her on the left cute little tw@t isn't she   :wub:

I found this with my dogs. I changed to BARF and their skin became so much healthier.

i would have tried half a prition tablet befor spending all that money and kennel the staff he will adjust to it quick enough living outside even for a few days a week i think gives them a edge/makes them keener to please

:victory: (again my thoughts only and open to debate)

liquid anti hystamine was the first thing we tried we still give it to her if we are going out into the sticks walking but the dose litterally has to be triple the amount reccomended for humans (anti hystamine does not work the same with dogs it has to be a much larger dose!)

as for kenneling i'm sort of comming round to the idea still rather stick the jrt outside though :D :D :D asif she'd let me do that

the mrs puts it in the bath when she has one(the dog not the mrs) every two weeks it does soothe it for a short while. does anybody know of prevention rather than treatment this bloody jrt is a pest
