Washing machine repair?

Recommended Posts

Any washing machine engineers on here?

Got a Servis machine, about 2 years old, all stainless steel model, cost about 400, but sounds like the bearings are going ................

Are they worth replacing or was that an expensive lesson not to buy a machine with a pretty casing?!

Is it a big job?

The bearings in them are standard things. Just take them out and get the number and get a bog standard SKF and knock it back in there.

Thanks Michael, I thought the bearings would probably be standard, maybe replace them with better quality ones, but ............. will they be that easy to remove? Got a 3 leg puller here and plenty of drifts so should be good to go.

Have you done one yourself?

Thanks.

Used to earn my pocket money fixing those things. Its an easy enough job, just be careful with using a hammer, as the housing where it lives in is made out of cast aluminium and crack easily. Sometimes if you just warm the housing up a bit with a flame, the bearing just drops out .

But the new bearing in the freezer for an hour before you put it in ;)
