Best air rifle for squirrels

Hi I am saving up for an air rifle, I have used air rifles a lot but only for paper targets at places like scouts and I have used them at an old air rifle club I used to attend. Anyway I am just wondering what rifle is best for grey squirrels as theres a few land owners I know of that want the greys taken control of.

 

My budget could probably stretch to about £300 - £350

they dont make air rifles small enough for squirrels.........lol

 

shot placement over calibre, rifle,pellet etc etc................everytime

 

get what your comfortable with

Any full power rifle will ruin a squirrels day if you can hit it in the noggin and that means shooting at a distance that you are comfortable with at doing just that.

My SMK Underlever does the job easily and thats an quid gun. Anything will do the job on squirrels

i would say a good spring gun or (if you are willing to spend 350) a cheap pcp will do: try hw95, Air Arms s200, anything full power and accurate which you feel comfortablw with. i am selling my air rifle for 150 if your intrested and it can easily take out squirrels.

Aron you had better warn people that your gun is only running at 8lbs so it wont be amazing at a good distance. its like shooting a pistol at that power. Anyway check out the buy sell and swap section of the forum and check out some pcps if you have used springers you have had the experiance. an aas200 or any other pcp with a good brand name will suite. Daystate theoben logun bsa etc. In my opinion pcpc are only worth haveing in multishot.

Pcps are also more accurate in general (it depends on the shooter) if your going to get into it and do it as pest controll get the right tool for the job in other words A PCP.

haha hiho thats what i said. At least two of us are looking after people and keeping aaron from selling a dud gun for a big price. IF your guna sell it aaron put a new spring in!! How would you like it if someone sold you a AAs200 that was only able to run at 8ft lbs?!

If you can't afford aarons gun, I think at a pinch even a HW 100 would do. I know its cutting it fine and please don't flame me for it but if you are a good shot you could kill a squirrel even with one of those.

Ive had my HW100 two weeks and shot over 200 rabbits with it and its by far the best built,the best handling,quietest most accurate air rifle ive ever used and i have used a wide range of rifles.I would recommend one to anyone....P&G

i've replaced the spring as i have al ready said in other posts it is now doing 11 ft ibs!
