Brummy 9
If these dogs are so good do us all a favour and get one then cross the beast to a greyhound to create your super dog. It's been done before by certain clowns with cattle dogs, white alsatians and other nonsense so go ahead. Chances are you'll do it once and the dogs will end up either being given away or given the bullet ! There are many lads on here who hunt all quarry all season using their own line bred stock or saluki/bull/collie blooded dogs who I'd put money on not even considering never mind running such a cross. But if you know best and they're as good as you say then go for it. Quote Link to post

chartpolski 27,579
There was an advert in the CMW a while back, for Ridgeback/Greyhounds. They said it was a repeat mating and the previous litter were taking all game. Anyone on here got one from either of these litters, or seen one work ? Cheers. Quote Link to post
DiStuRBeD 0
The ridgebacks are not to take out a lion just to chase them then corner them intill hunters get to there to kill the lion .... i know that mate, he was taking the piss, and so was i above i know a bloke thats hunted ridge's for 20 odd years, like everything i think getting from working stock is the most important thing, his take foxes, deer, pigs and other quarry Quote Link to post

Guest saladtossa
i own a ridgeback bullmasstiff cross plus i have plenty of experience with pure ridgebacks...aggressive, no...but then any dog can be turned aggressive...health problems, yes, breed is prone to genetic health problems due to bad breeding practices in many countries...very devoted, loyal dogs...very brave and will tackle any animal, lions would'nt surprise me...fast, hell no, but very high prey drive...pointless as a lurcher but can be used as a scent hound for foxes, great noses...do tend to be a one owner dog but very loving, devoted with family, comepletely trustworthy...basic history is early south african pioneers crossing the hounds they brought from europe and the uk with a native hunting dog for a more climatized local hound...the ridge on the back is a throwback to the native dog...training, very slow to mature but very eager to please...patience and the dog will eventually exceed your expectations...my own dog would never hurt a human...any child could take a raw bone from it's mouth...but she's fearless in the field, has hunted feral pigs and foxes and if i wanted her to she'd lug an elephant Edited August 31, 2006 by saladtossa Quote Link to post
