brassneck 128
Hello all . I have 2 jills with kitts born on the same day, i seperated the jills a week before birth to avoid any potential problems , but im now wondering if i did the right thing ? The one is a small polecat type(1st litter) she had 6 kitts and all are doing, fine she is happy enough and seems to be taking it all in her stride . The other is a larger black eyed white she had 11 kitts , lost 2 , 9 doing fine . Although they doing ok she seems to be struggling some what. There now 2 weeks old , would it be a good/bad idea to to put them back in together ? thanks Quote Link to post

runforyourlife 361
Struggling, how?? She will sort it out, if there are to many, the weak one or two will die, not a lot you can do... As long asyou are feeding the mum the right things there isnt much you can do. Quote Link to post

brassneck 128
How do you mean they dont seem as content , what are the kits doing that makes you feel that ? Dont know really just make a lot more noise and seem a bit restless . Where as the other litter sleep alot , feed, have a little cry then back to sleep . Quote Link to post
Cold Ethyl 63
I would leave well alone i think my jills lost one or two but i havent stuck my nose in because i think that will stress her more.Mine arent that noisy all the time just when theyre fighting to get to the jill to be fed or feeding. But shes doing a good job theyre well fed and although a bit sqeaky at times nothing too serious that i can see.Make sure she has plenty of decent grub mostly moist and leave her too it Quote Link to post
Kay 3,709
To be honest i dont think they would have survived 2 weeks if there was anything major going on, oviously if there constantly crying thats different , you will find the smaller ones squark more if they arnt getting there fair share but in a week you can start lamping in the meat & that will help a lot Quote Link to post
The one 8,598
Try putting a rabbit back leg in with the larger litter of kitts maybe the jills struggling Quote Link to post
Cold Ethyl 63
My two had two steaks and a pork loin steak thingy today cos theyre out of date and my pal wont eat it even though it was perfectly fine so they where well fed today. Quote Link to post
