hi guys ,,out of my 10 ferrets 3 of them have a twin ,now 2 of them are about 4 yrs old ,1 is a great worker and the other no where near as good ,what do you guys recommend i use to id these 2 apart ?the other 4 are only last years kits and havent worked yet so no worries there yet but i will need to do some thing to them so i can tell them apart soon ,,,thanks guys ,,,jas

you should be able to tell by feeling them handling will telll you the differences

look for somthing the other ferret dosent have i tell my two poleys apart by ther teeth one has wonkey teeth and the other straight

if its that hard to tell them apart you could use the colored spray they put on sheep.

I used to keep several white jills and I used daubs of paint on the heads to tell which was which

How about trimming some of the fur off the tail of one of them?

That's what i do get a pair of scissors and snip one straight across at the end of the tail and i snip another pair between the shoulder blade's and it last's till they moult out in the spring

Although it doesn't last for more tan a few days 'cos of their coat, I use a quick spry of terramycin (purple wound spray from your local farm supplies) to differentiate my 3 sandys. I know the work pattern of one so I leave him, another gets a spray on the head, the other a mark on the neck or shoulders. When they show at the hole I know exactly which is which. HTH. Cheers, D.

Yep, you can get some henna to color their hair with (it is non-toxic).. Or just put some food coloring on them, even if they are poleys you can put it on their lighter fur.
