  3. Straight of the press, Anothe great day of Showing, Racing, and qualifers will held at the " Field of Dreams " Greyhound Schooling Track , Gulladuff, Maghera, Sunday 23rd June 13. What a top class venue and a Top of the Pops race track. Has to be seen to believed. One of the best Racing Tracks in Ireland. *I am told there will be a big push on the day to find the Fastest Racing Terrier out there at the moment. Cant wait to see this race.* Full details later.   4. I have had a few complaints from our good Terrier men, that the dog shows are not having Terrier Racing anymore. Some very angry men and women out there. I am making a request on behalf of the Terrier Racing fraternity, to all show organisers, please think about bringing back the good old Terrier Racing as part of you racing programme. These wee dogs generates so much interest, fun, and excitement when they are racing. Should Terriers wear Muzzles when racing, like big dogs do ??? Margaret Mc Stay
  5. Lots of people have asked will there be camping and caravanning facilities at Shanes Castle and/or Birr. There are NO facilities for camping or caravanning at Shanes Castle - there is a very good Council site with proper facilities at Antrim - the Sixmilewater site - there are a few others a little further away. Regarding Birr - as many might be aware some bales of hay were lit by people staying in the small field that we rent from a local lady to give us access to the fair and particularly to the terrier & lurcher field and clay field. North West Lurcher, Terrier, and Whippet Club Show Sunday 12th May 13 Another great day of Racing, Showing , Excitement and laughter was had by all at the new venue of the North West Lurcher,Terrier, and Whippet Club Show, held at Killynaught Road , Artigarvan , Strabane,Co Tyrone last Sunday 12th May. 13. This new show ground was superb with a good long Racing Track, views to die for, and loads of room in the show rings.   14. Delighted to say that interest in the combined Ballywalter & Shanes Castle Fairs has really continued to build towards our objective of delivering the largest Irish game fair ever. It looks as if we will have the best international competition yet for the Master McGrath and All Ireland Terrier, Whippet and Lurcher Championship racing and showing. As I said in an earlier post we will have three arenas operating : The Main Arena ; the Living History Arena at the Castle and the 'Countrysports Arena' - this new arena will be a long thin arena - long enough for any of the 'acts'/events we
  15. Barrontop Fun Farm are hosting a Lurcher,Terrier and Whippet Dog Show and Raceday on Saturday the 15th June 2013 . All the usual classes, lovely Trophys, and Cash Prizes for each of the Overall winners. A donation will be made to the Foyle Hospice from the proceeds of this show. Entry Fee will be £4 and £2 to show or race your dog. This is the ideal opportunity for those who have pups and want to get them running with a full field of dogs. We have four distances, 325, 350, 525 and 550 yds.   20. Interest is really building up in the Combined Ballywalter & Shanes Castle event planned for Shanes Castle, Antrim on the 29th & 30th June. We already have more stands booked in than last year with five large pavilions booked solid a great Gunmakers Row and a fantastic Fine Food Festival and are now really sifting the applications we are getting every day.   21. Had a very relaxing day at Dessie Mackins 2nd Dog Show of the year which took place on Saturday 4th May 13 at Gilford, Co Down.. Although the crowd could of been bigger, the craic and the banter was good with like minded people, all there with their families and friends. . The weather was kind for a change, and brought the Canine world and their young folk out for a day of fun and frolics at Dessies Dog Show and Raceday. The show started at 12.15 noon, with the Racing first on the list. Dessie called the heats out in succession, no time delay, and all went completely without a hitch.
