  1. TWO IRISH CANINE LEGENDS to be honoured by the Great Game Fairs of Ireland in 2017. The GGF of Ireland team have built up an enviable reputation for promoting both human and animal history. We have been running a Master McGrath tribute championship for elite lurchers for several years ( at Shanes) and in 2017 this will be joined by a Mick the Miller Championship ( at Birr) for non elite lurchers.   3. Tullylish Working Terrier Club Charity Race Day, Sunday 13th November 16. The Tullylish Working Terrier Club will be having a Race Day on Sunday the 13th November 16 in aid of Children in Need. There will be Simulated Coursing for Whippets and Lurchers. There will be a very exciting course for Lurchers, with a shuck to jump, hopefully, depending on the field.   4. BIG BIG NEWS FROM THE GREAT GAMEFAIRS OF IRELAND FOR 2017. The Great Game Fairs of Ireland team has decided to make some changes to its ALL IRELAND CHAMPIONSHIPS . Full details including the new prize structure will be published in Irish Countrysports and Country Life magazine after their PRESS launches but applications are now invited from clubs throughout Ireland and the UK for qualifiers for : The Master McGrath Challenge to be staged at Shanes Castle for 'Elite' lurchers. This is the Belfast Community TV station and as it goes to a primarily urban audience the filming of the Ballynahinch Game and Harvest Festival provided a great opportunity to promote the country sports cause. Montalto Game Fair Saturday 24th September and Sunday 25th September 2016 As I looked out the window early Saturday morning, a brisk autumn wind blew through the trees, sending waves of leaves floating over the dog pens, and the rain was coming down in buckets. Up bright and early Sunday morning as another new dawn was breaking, with the September dew still on the grass, trailer and dogs in tow, we set off into the County Armagh Countryside, headed for the town land of Annaghmore and the now famous Annaghmore Race track. Deep in the heart of Orchard County, this brilliant race track was the perfect venue for Sundays Charity Dog show and Race day. This dog show was a little bit special, as it was in aid of “PIPS,” a very worthy and needy charity nowadays.

Another Media story put out by Paul Pringle, PR Director Great Game Fairs of Ireland Craigavon man raises funds for Action Cancer at Terrier & Lurcher Show A terrier, lurcher and whippet show organised by Breandan Coleman from Craigavon and part sponsored by the Irish Game Fair at Shanes Castle, raised £300 for Action Cancer. And throwing his support behind the worthy cause, Albert Titterington from the Great Game Fairs of Ireland added another £100 to take the total amount raised to £400 for the charity. The Birr Game fair staged on the 27th & 28th September was the 60th Game Fair organised by the Great Game Fairs of Ireland since we launched the Fairs in 1979 to promote and defend all country sports in Ireland. It was a huge success with the largest number of traders ever, a tremendous prize fund, brilliant weather and good crowds - record on Saturday and not far off a record on Sunday. Most trade exhibitors had great bargains on offer and all traders were delighted with the huge turnout of people and many posted record sales.   21. Birr Castle Game Fair 2016 Birr Castle is a large Castle in the town of Birr, Co Offaly, and situated amid the rich pastures of the deep South of Ireland. This beautiful Castle is one of Ireland’s “Green Jewels “ and houses award-winning gardens, Great Telescope, and Ireland’s largest Treehouse.   24. Pluck and Smurf Charity Dog Show and Race Day at Burndennet Cricket Club, Strabane, Co Tyrone Sunday 21st August 16. As we approached the bridge at Strabane, and took the turn for Burndennet Cricket Club, I think Pluck and Smurf were busy up above getting the weather adjusted to suit their very special Memorial Show and Race day. All the way down the motorway it was raining heavy, but once we reached the cricket club the rain had stopped and did not start again to the end of the show.
